Lies. If my experience doesn't count then why would yours? It doesn't work offline, fact. My game was shut down when the internet went out. How is that fair? I bought the damn disc. It was in the drive. Oh and don't get me started on the forced updates you HAD to get because it was always online. They messed up the game. I don't need to own a phone to see the costs, duh. It's not cool to BUY a game and be told you can't play it. Total BS. And for what it's worth HL1 was great. Didn't dislike them before the Steam fiasco, then Valve failed and lost a customer.

Some nicely timed proof. I got an Email today saying hello, and something that doesn't use regular letters. I'm receiving this message because I played Eve Online. (No, I have not.) It's in my Steam library but I have yet to log in.

Explain. Something I've banned from my PC is still communicating and lying too. I've heard of the game but it's not my thing. Nor was there a library feature when I used it last. I don't like this. Came from '[email protected]'. Guess it could be fake?

I started carrying a cell phone to be able to keep my daughter updated on where I was in terms of any trip to go visit her. I can't do that with a landline. She lives in a secure building and can't see when I arrive, and because of my disability I need help getting up to her second floor apartment. That's USEFUL.

My current cell is an android smartphone. $29.95 @ Walmart. It has most all of the bells and whistles and is inexpensive not CHEAP.

This disproves both of your opinions. Seriously, get a clue.

You're a special case though so maybe the expense is warranted. Personally I don't know anyone in a secure building, figure that goes for lots of people. Definitely don't need to spend $30 a week or month.

Enh not really. When I say useless that's just for most. Obviously there are cases where it's necessary and then it's probably paid by the employer.

Millions of people know someone in a secure building even if they aren't perhaps aware of it. It simply means you need a key or someone to buzz you in.

Sure. You're not that normal, tbh. You're needs seem to differ from most. Most actually need one for their jobs. I know a lot of jobs that want to be able to reach you whenever. Not just when you're at home. Many people go to places other than home. And would like to be able to reach them when they need them. It can also help you stay in touch with someone when you are out running errands. Or if someone forgot to mention something to pick up at the store. And texting is definitely useful. It's an easy way to communicate when talking won't work at the current time, but you have to keep in touch with someone about something. Or to have a conversation with someone while you are both busy with something else. And could make work easier, depending on the job. Leaving "notes" without you having to stop to take them. And with how much a phone can do as one tools, as opposed to having multiple tools to do the same thing, the "needs" definitely outweigh the "Don't needs", and would probably save money in the end. Since you could buy one tools instead of multiple different things...

I ignored him for well over a year, not officially, just by not ever responding to him. But then he started trolling my personal accounts...but it goes both ways. He stalks me w/ his Facebook...so now I know his name.

Dude was a 110 pound 5'3 kid who dressed like a poor man's Eminem and bagged groceries. He actually worked that job for the entire 3+ years that he trolled me. He had no friends, and had a "friend zoned" online relationship with some emo looking girl from Florida..a chick he never met but was obviously in love with. This dude inherited a shitty house when his dad died, and that is how he managed to lived. He drove no car, had no assets of note, his money he got from bagging groceries was basically just used for essentials. He lived a sad life.

I eventually retired from fighting, I was almost 30, so I decided to concentrate on a lasting career...and got my first legit job working for a Videogame company. So as I'm starting this new chapter of my life, I still have this old peice of baggage hanging around in the form of TheBetaMale.

Now as an MMA Fighter, I didn't care if he trolled my social accounts...it's like whatever, it can't harm me. But now that I'm working an actual career...well that's a totally different ballgame.

So for the first time I had to address this, and I had to do it seriously. This man was now officially fucking with my livelihood. So, I began texting that fake girlfriend of his in Florida. Told her she was a random friend suggestion, but I liked the posts she made. That I'd be headed to Florida for a MMA fight soon and that maybe she could show me around. I got her totally on my dick.

I mentioned BetaMale as he was all over her post replies. He was so deep into the friend zone with this girl. But she told me all his deepest darkest secrets. Including where his father was burried, and the exact location of his work/house.

I used Google maps to print out the locations, and then screenshot the conversation I was having with his girl. I then found another dude on the GameFaqs MA board that was in Oklahoma and arranged payment for him to meet me at the Graveyard to videotape me kicking Beta's Ass. I screenshot that conversation and PayPal receipt. Finally, I purchased a ticket to OKC, and screenshot that as well.

I finally, for about the first time in 3+ years actually reached out to Beta through one of his social accounts and presented him with the following ultimatum: "Stop or Else"

Or else what? Well, I was going to fly out to OKC (flight left the next morning), meet with the other GameFaqer at his father's grave, where I would then set up a lawn chair, sit my ass down and begin a Livestream directly to the GameFaqs MA board. This stream would be me calling out The Beta Male for a fight.

With me I had a gym bag full of gear...boxing headgear, mouthpiece, & 3 ounce gloves for him, and 16 ounce gloves and shin pads for myself. This was designed to protect him, but not me. Afterall, he had been calling me out for a fight for the past three years.

He had two hours to respond. At which point I would piss on his father's grave, go straight to his house/work to call him a bitch on camera, and then I was flying to Florida to fuck "his girl."

I sent BetaMale all the evidence that this was going to happen. At which point he threatened to shoot me if I showed up. I said that was fine, that I accepted his terms. He then apologized, including going to the board and publically doing it in his own way...and then he never showed up again.

...and that is the story of TheBetaMale. So you can go ahead and take him off of block. He'll never show his face here again. In fact, I think he deactivated his account.

Not at the time. Though, to jump to $30 a month or week (which paying a cell phone bill per week is very rare if it happens at all) is kind of a leap. Especially when they were saying where they got it from.

I'm not saying you should do what others do to fit in. But I also don't think you can say that it's useless when your life is already vastly different than other people's live. You seem older, as well. While I hand landlines as a kid (and still do), not everyone did. Maybe more people on this site. But I know a lot of younger people in the military that don't even remember having a landline. Cell phones were always available. And do many things a regular phone doesn't. Also, people have lives to live. You seem like soeone who doesn't go far away from home. Other people do go away. And if there is a work emergency, they can still be reached, even if they're not home. It's not "being impatient", but being reahable when needed. If they is an emergency, people can't always wait for someone to get home from let's say, a date night. Where they went to the movies, out for dinner, and then walked around for a while. Or something. And not everyone checks their email 24/7. Some people check it a couple times a day. But with a cell phone, you can be alerted to emergencies all the time. Not every job needs to be able to reach one specific person all the time. But many would like to be able to reach most, if not all, employees when they need them. Again, this is because you seem to have a different life than most. And I wouldn't say you're the most normal of this board.

Steam sends stuff to everybody's email. To whichever email you signed up with. I think they sometimes send stuff to people who haven't signed up to get them to sign up. A company always wants more customers. And especially during this time, it would be wise to try to get everybody on board or whatever. But it's not like steam hasn't sent other people emails. Most people on this site who have steam probably get emails, as well. I get them most days...

As far as I know, they don't have any contracts. I don't remember them ever being a phone copany. Most people wouldn't think he was talking about getting a phone contract with Wal-Mart as they either don't have phones contracts, or barely anybody knows about them if they do. It could be phishing, which would probably mean it's not steam. Or it could be steam asking you for your phone number. Idk if it was part of the info I gave them.
