Why do you think they wouldnt? They were exposed to someone who had tested positive, showed symptoms, and it gives us more information about how this thing can spread back and forth. Why is this even a question?
Kind of sad actually that this wasn't more obvious. If we can spread it to animals, this is a pretty damn important piece of information. Way more important than testing another person.

Because it was clearly displaying coronavirus symptoms. It wasn't random.

And, according to news reports, the type of testing done on the tiger is completely different from humans and does not rob any human of being tested.

Seriously, I will just put (this is a joke) at the end of all my jokes from now on lol.

I mean yeah other animals have tested positive already dogs etc, and it makes sense that they test it to find out.

I was jokiig about anyone actually going up to a tiger and sticking a cotton swab up it's nose lol.

But maybe that is just funny to me.

Not only may we be living in a simulation, but who could have possibly thought that simulation was an advanced version of Plague, Inc?

Theres a big difference between the tiger being tested and the virus just being found on it like any other surface and a test showing that the animal actually contracted the virus

Im curious what the details are of the actual test

Fortunately, pet cats are usually already living a life of shelter-in-place. I mean, there are a few of those people who let their cats roam, and that was a bad idea even before now since it opens up the cats to predators or getting hit by a car or something else unpleasant for the cat and any owner who values the continued well being of said cat.

If a cat gets sick, it probably just gets sick from you. Some cats do get allergies though, so if your cat seems to sneeze a bit more than usual, it could potentially be a bit of that rather than you being one of the people without symptoms and giving it to your cat.

True. Though, if it's sneezing, you probably wouldn't have to worry about COVID-19m as I don't think sneezing is a symptom. Though, it could be something else. But probably allergies...

Some people who have been positive for Covid and have cats (along with some more people who got milder symptoms but have no clue if they ever got the disease or not) noted that the cats seemed to get ill around the same time, with the primary symptoms being the cat version of coughing and more sneezing than usual.

This is all hearsay of course. But I could see it triggering different symptoms in a cat than a human in terms of how their reflexes deal with it. It might be that cats sometimes "cough" in a more sneezy manner.

But yeah, I don't know details on the matter (how accurate the cat symptoms are for COVID, or how accurate cat symptoms are just generally for things, as you don't really hear much about dogs and cats coughing much in general, outside of hairballs).

While it's true that it could cause different symptoms, they seemed to test the tiger because it had the symptoms of Covid-19. Which sounds like it was probably more of the same symptos humans show. Because if it was just sneezing, they probably wouldn't have tested for Covid-19 since that's not a normal symptom. And then, they would have said something different. Like about how it was sneezing instead of coughing, or how animals have different symptoms. Also, they might not have said it was showing symptoms of COVID-19 if sneezing was the major issue, as it's not a symptom...

Hmm, apparently they are. I acknowledge the mistake.

For some reason, my brain always lumps the big five (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish) together as animals and discounts the rest. Which might be part of the reason why I got a D in college Biology.

It seems to be mostly cats. And a proper cat owner won't let their cats outside on their own anyway. Don't interact with outdoor cats you see though, to be safe.
