If you live in an area where it snows or by the coastal waters and are subject to rust on your vehicles, do you put oil sprays under your cars to rust proof?

Wondering if its worth ~$100/year for this service on my new truck. I intend to keep this truck "forever", since its a utility item.

Undercoating is different from oil sprays. Undercoating is a thick "rubber"-like substance that the dealer or Ziebert/national chains use. Oil sprays are literally spraying oil on the underside of your carbody, and you repeat this on a yearly basis; local body shops provide this service.

I guess alternatively, save the ~$100/year until rust actually results in some structural problems in 10-years or so, then just do structural rust repair from body shops.

If you dont mind it dripping onto your driveway and making a mess, it's ok.

Personally, I say do the work and put in a proper rust sealant like POR15

From what I read online, it'll drip for a couple days, then won't drip anymore. Is that accurate?

Not the case for me at all. Took a few months for it to stop. Also, the driveway is stained now.

Bleh... time to find an actual place that'll do this and ask. Thanks for the heads up!
