also fun fact: the game is reviving the DS / 3DS's old Download Play setup where you can download a Switch app to play locally with someone else who owns the game, so multi-Switch local gameplay with 1 cartridge!

Switch prices are above my game budget usually. And as cool as it sounds to play Go for instance, there are so many ways I could do that on a computer. It might be cheaper than a physical board and pieces at least.

DS had an entire single player campaign mode, it both taught you the games and threw you to the wolves. it was fantastic

okay after taking forever trying to get a Mahjong Richi win I wanted to move to something easy to relax me down from attempting to learn that

I'm already naturally bad at slide puzzles so throwing in a timed element is truly hell on earth

I only played 7 games in this but they were already a blast. Played Bowling with my brother all-night and it really reminds me the good old Wii Sports era. Touch screen air hockey is great too.

Four in a Row CPU is kind of stupid, I beat the impossible CPU on the first try.

I finally got over 300 points on the turtle slide puzzle. Still ended up with a 1 star rating but WHO FUCKING CARES I BEAT IT

all games played, credits roll yay

... still gotta get a turtle slide medal tho... the only game without. 20 mastered so almost half~ 83/161, so over half in that sense!

*edit*... oh hey, got the 300 turtle coins on my first try with 380.... well then okay but there's still rabbit grr

if you're interested in something you can play with them you really can't go wrong, an elementary kid would certainly get the hang of everything better than my 62 y/o mom and she's still been playing with me for the last few hours up to 1am now!

Do note however the single-switch multiplayer is up to 2 players only, you'll need multiple switches for each additional person (although thankfully there's an app that lets other switches play locally with someone who owns 1 copy, so you don't need multiple games.... still, multiple switches, but it's good for me and my siblings!). But also with single-switch multiplayer you can't play stuff that requires secrecy, like how Poker can't hide your hand from other players on a single system. Last Card / Uno is sad to miss out on though =/. There's of course online with friends or with anybody, haven't taken a crack at it yet but I hear lag can be disappointing, particularly compared to what you'd expect from simple turn-based board games.

Nevertheless the selection is still large, like again the last few hours me and my mom played all of Connect-4, Chinese Checkers, Matching, Takoyaki, Billiards, Darts, Toy Curling, and Air Hockey, and we still didn't have time to get around other favs we played the other day (namely Backgammon for my mom)

For an elementary kid I mean it really seems like a great package to teach them a bunch of timeless classics (and a bunch of random other stuff). With all the games and challenges it's been pretty fun completing, although as an independant adult with the ability to play a lot of games with a lot of free time I can't speak to how much this'll last a normal kid solo. Either way it's definitely a greatly accessible party game that I can always imagine coming back to playing with others.

The Yacht Dice CPU has to be one of the dumbest I've ever seen. It rolled four 5's and a 6 on its first roll, kept three of the 5's, and tried to roll more 5's after that on its next two rolls.
