I'm not so much a tightwad, as much as there's very little I find worth spending money on.

Frugal in some areas, reckless in others. I'll refuse to buy a game at full pop -- then buy it after a discount -- while simultaneously impulse-purchasing things that are more expensive than the difference in price or, at times, the game itself. Granted, I barely play the games I buy, so not paying full makes a lot of sense particularly when they're eventually be available on the cheap. In the case of Arkham City, I think I paid $30 for the GOTY collection which I could have later got for $5.... and I still haven't played it.

I'm cheap in just about every aspect in life and like to have a large safety net of money before making major purchases. I also tend to make those purchases using cash rather than taking out a loan or putting it on a credit card. I also buy mostly used items except for stuff like shoes, socks, underwear, etc.

I like to spend money wisely in most cases and love a good deal. However at times I've been known to waste money. "More tightwad than spendthrift" is probably best.

I've had to pinch pennies for so long that when I actually do have money, it's sometimes hard to pry open my wallet.

I can relate.

BUT... whenever I move anywhere, I spend on movers. I could do it myself but I pulled my back out last time I did so... fuck that.

I have a tendency to be somewhat tight with my money for a while and then binge spend every so often. Bought a bunch of music gear the past few weeks just because I decided I really wanted to get a home studio going

I watch my spending for the most part - I admit I cave in to impulses every now and again.

I also like to have a sizable amount of money in the bank for emergencies and/or major purchases.

If I want something I buy it without worrying about sales, if I don't want it I don't buy it.

My phone currently is cracked covered in tape missing all volume and power buttons and has something jammed in the audio jack. The one before that cost $30.

If it is something I will use a lot, I have no issue investing in it. Examples:

I work 8+ hours a day. I'll easily drop 300-500 on my shoes between insoles, shoes, etc. I spent 1200 on my computer desk chair that I sit at for several hours.

I sleep 8 hours or so a night, so I spent a few thousand on the most comfortable mattress I could find. Worth every penny. That is 16 hours of every day - no money wasted.

If something will help me do a higher quality job at work, I'm ok spending some money on it at this point of my life - I figure I will get many, many years out of it.

I don't spend big money on things like games, movies, etc, however.

I also only spend what I have. If I don't have the money in savings - I'm not buying it.

I decide on a goal to get something, save money and get it. I never save any money just for the sake of saving it, except some for emergencies ofcourse.
