cloud-storage is not software though, it's just a remote hard-drive.

a soft-drive would be more like an emulated in-memory drive. actually it's almost contradictory though, since the point of a drive is persistence, and software is not persistent.

but there's lots of wiggle-room here with definitions and stuff; definitely an interesting question.

yeah but not to most people

i mean youre correct, but to most people a hard drive is a physical thing that they can see and touch. Cloud based storage feels like something that just exists on the internet

"The Cloud" makes a lot more sense given the type of storage it is talking about (accessible from any computer) vs. softdrive, which really is not what cloud storage is about at all. A more appropriate term would be "remote storage" but "the cloud" is a much more sexy term.

I am a Contract Software Developer. What does that mean? I don't know, let me know if you figure it out.
