No Does this bat scare you? - Results (1 vote) Yes.. 0% (0 votes) 0 No 100% (1 vote) 1 A picture of a bat that is a sight for horror films as a human size bat hanging outside a home in the Phillipines was pictured!! Although it looks big from the photo, it is because of the angle it was taken with a camera trick that makes it look big It is a giant golden-crown flying fox, a large fruit eating bat native in Asia Although they have wings that can span 5'5, it is slightly above the height of the average woman and can only grow a foot in height. This hasn't stopped people from freaking out however as bats are now known to be disease carriers such as the one that caused the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, the horseshoe bat, are those ones are much smaller. I was completely stunned at what I was looking at the first two laps, and then my brain finally figured it out and I ran away. Not a good idea as I then lost sight of it. It flew in from my bedroom window. And this thing was BIG. You know the small bats that fly really fast? Well this one wasnt one of those. Its wing span was huge and you could see every flap of its wings. Anyway, I decided to call animal control cause, you know, I had chinchillas and I didnt want them getting hurt. So the automated system said, If you have a bat in your home, please hang up and call 911. That was concerning. I thought maybe I wasnt seeing the seriousness of this situation. I called 911 and they came out and found him on top of my kitchen cupboards. They took the little guy away, who seemed to have shriveled up into practically nothing when hes not flying, and tested him for rabies. He didnt have any rabies. So he died for nothing. I feel terrible about that. But also... why did he have to break into my house. So long as you don't let it bite you, you're not even remotely at risk. If it's injured, use the same method and call a rescue. Don't call cops; cops will always be more inclined to kill something than behave rationally, because then they would have to actually think. Anyway, no I'm not scared of fucking bats of any size or species because I'm not an idiot.
