It's not even so bad that it's funny-bad. It just feels like a generic, by the numbers action/comedy with a Ghostbusters skin on it. Its biggest sin is being boring.

From what I understand, the theatrical cut had like 20 or 30 minutes cut from it, and it damages the pacing and the story, whereas streaming and video discs have the longer cut of the movie. Not sure if that means its any good, but if its true, it does explain and address some of the legitimate complaints with the movie.

It's definitely one of those cases where you go into it thinking 'I wonder if it's as bad as they say' and come of out of it thinking 'ugh...yeah, I guess it was.' The only sin that matters is that it simply was not funny - I laughed at exactly one joke the entire movie.

Best case scenario is that you'll be ambivalent towards it, and wish that you'd spent two hours of your life on something even slightly more rewarding. I'd recommend doing just that.

There's no fucking way 30 minutes more of that god-awful improv would improve the film lol

I though it was decent. Bill Murray does a fun little cameo (not as his character from the original) and Chris Hemsworth is surprisingly funny. Its not a cinema classic, obviously. And its a bit gauche to have remade such a classic movie, imo, but what are you gonna do.
