I have my laptop and my PC on the right tv (and tv on the left tv). if I'm doing something on the computer I'll use my laptop and have the PC on autorefresh duty, but if I'm playing games I play them on the PC (or switch input to a console on the tv) and have the laptop on autorefresh duties

there's always the GameCATS Highlighting script where you can designate specific highlight groups to specific users with their own individual colours!

I don't like Discord very much just from the experience I've had with many in the past. It's always the same types of people who hang out there all day, in every server. They're all the same. I don't really know how to explain it, but I'm sure there is a BINGO card with them all.

I know message boards contain a lot of the same tropes, but at the same time message boards feel more casual and laid back, whereas there is something about Discord that always seems depressing.

Hard to explain the subtle difference I guess, so it's probably just me.

i already abuse multiple windows and don't really have the screen space for that. i guess if i actually had a good highlighting solution i could make like a 100 pixel width window for the auto refresh

i installed it but it didn't work, probably the fact that i'm still using firefox 56. well i don't have too many users that would pop up anyway so i can make regular highlighting work (i've used it in the past but turned it off after smfffc was over, then never turned it back on). bigger issue is the small window width stretches everything so much it can only display 3 topics, but even that would only matter for the moment i get on the computer if the round has been up for a while.

Almost every championship has been inspired by some form of plot in one way or another. 22 contests in and you still talking about tainted wins means you just don't want to see the truth. That is how smff is, aside from your bot contests of course.

I mean, I didn't bring this up unwarranted; that was you. You bring up the topic and then go "let's not talk about it people get salty"; pretty weird. If you didn't want it talked about all you had to do was not try to make something out of it. People using their popularity or "buying" votes is, in my view, part of this game. Not one I always like but I'm not going to basically refer to them as cheaters like raytan and his sister. There's a difference between getting mad/jealous and just going with "this win wasn't legit".

I don't see anything shady/questionable about one person convincing another person to change their saves, provided the second is already in the topic so it's not rallying. tbh it weirds me out that everyone is going "ohhh tainted" I just...don't see the problem. It's not different than after a round ends and everyone is trying to persuade new people to join their character.

I didn't bring up the bought votes as an example of any kind of taint on the contest - it was a legitimate deal within the rules of the contest at the time, and, honestly, most of the votes would probably have gone to Kefka anyway.

My point is that in a neutral environment where everyone voted the way they personally wanted to without any external deals or pressure, Tidus still wins that final.

He never asked a question until you brought up the fact you found the win to be 'tainted', so yeah no, you still brought it up. raytan/amy/partystar literally cheated for years so those results are definitely suspect. Wins like Tidus, Marche, Steiner, Lightning or whatever might been on the backs of things but it was never anything comparable to just one or two people making a bunch of accounts and voting with them, let alone them being the hosts of the contest to give them even more advantage.

I'm sorry characters you like won during that timeframe. Not accusing you of being a cheater or anything, you just like characters that the people who spent years unfairly running a contest also are fans of. It's not like I am saying strike every contest pre-Marche from the books, just that a legitimate form of cheating was going on back then. The fact you had to try and compare stuff like Inviso's voting to that is still in my opinion, a bad look.

I remain entirely unconvinced that there was any sort of host cheating going on before CXII - porchy77, the alt that ultimately led to the discovery, was created in late 2008, which means its first contest could only have been CXI. And since that's the year VI did its absolute worst, I doubt it was happening then. (If it was, raytan was comically bad at it.)

We'll never know for sure since nobody has any archives of the oldest contests, and I don't think raytan ever admitted to anything directly, so he certainly won't be telling us.

I have learned that decade old conflicts can be reignited at the drop of a hat, and will thus be more careful in the future when asking about incidents I assumed to be ancient history.

One thing we can all agree on is that Lulu's fraudulent win inoculates her from the anti-repeat bias, and she is therefore due for a redemption arc.

I agree. Only reason I stopped my evil empire is I was pretty sure I was going to be the end of the contest if I didn't.
