Have you ever left the stove/oven on cooking something and fell asleep?

As Kevin McCallister's brother, Buzz said in Home Alone "It's pretty cool you didn't burn the house down"..and leaving the stove or oven on is one of the major reasons why someone's house is burnt to a crisp because someone forgot to turn off the stove/oven when it's cooking something...generally someone starts cooking and goes to bed which is the worst..or someone forgot to check on their food while busy doing something else and lost track of time...

Are you one of those people?

No, which I credit with the fact that I'm still alive.

Bonus. Our cats have turned on the stove.

Idk how. I could literally have not used it, nor my spouse or sister. My sister actually never used the stove tbh. Yet I walk in the kitchen and it's on.

It's just been the same burner too, so since when we moved in the stove was missing a knob we just moved that one to the missing one eventually and no issues again so far.

Did it once in my drunken college days. Passed out on the couch while a pot of spaghetti was boiling. Burned the spaghetti and ruined the pot but roommate smelled it burning and cut it off. And that act of stupidity made me careful for the rest of my life. But I'm also pretty straightedge these days and rarely even drink so that helps

One of my sisters cats I was watching for a few months figured out how to turn on the sink and it would do it constantly. If it had been the oven instead, I think our house would be gone.

After my wife passed, for about a year afterwards I would forget things like that, I stopped cooking much because I was afraid I'd burn down the house by accident. Also my hearing and sight would just totally go out sometimes as well. That stopped eventually though and I have not had a problem with leaving the stove on in a few years now. It was crazy for awhile though.

Thanks for showing us a picture with a stove. I almost forgot what that contraption looked like. And there is even a man, trying to actually sunny side up himself too. How scrumptious that may be.
