I know it's the go-to for competitive players, but I honestly hate battlefield as a setup. The platforms just get in the way and make stages feel way more crowded than they need to be.

You're not the only one, I never liked Battlefield ever since the Brawl days. Maybe it's because I'm more of a casual and probably don't understand the game all that much but it seems easier to run away and play "lame" on Battlefield despite how tinier it is to FD. I know that doesn't make sense, it's more cramped yet it's easier to avoid people? idk, it's how I feel when playing on that stage.... doesn't help that it feels like there's 5 different versions of BF that people like to pick. lol

But it's good to try and adapt on a stage that we don't like, maybe one day it can be a strength of ours... maybe

Edit: Also, maybe I shouldn't talk about people playing lame when I probably play the lamest out of everyone here tbh >_>

Questions to those that use DK. So this mainly goes to Ace, viewmaster, davy as I have seen you guys use DK before. But really this question is for anyone.

Anyone notice that, when cargo throwing with DK, his jump feels kind of delayed? When doing his ding dong attack, usually you jump and then throw upwards, but when I try to do it, half of the time the jump doesn't register. It's not one of those moves where you can jump and throw at the same time, like it would be if you jumped and neutral air.

I don't play him with you guys, but I do when fighting randos all the time. I absolutely agree though, his cargo junk feels weirdly laggy/clunky even offline.

I always assumed it was intentional design, to emphasize that carrying another fighter on his back is very difficult.

That is a very good point, and that probably is the reason why his jump is so weird and delayed. At least it's not just me or my controller lol.

i just tried it in training and same thing. doesn't happen with my normal jump, only the jump while in cargo throw mode.

I honestly dont know about that. My DK play is minimal and not good. Probably can find a video about that. I do know one thing: DK actually walks faster when cargo holding in 64 than with normal walking.

Edit: just tested it and I dont feel like there is any hiccup to it. You can cargo carry and then jump and immediately up throw into uair. Im not even good and it was easy to do at low percents.

Weird. When I grab as DK, I'll hit forward and so I carry the opponent on my back. I hit "A" (to throw), while hitting "Y" to jump at the same time, DK will throw but not jump. I have to throw slightly after I jump, in order for both to happen.

Yeah, you need to jump and throw. Throw before jump wont work because you cant cancel that animation with a jump. Just like jumping too early after cargo grab wont necessarily buffer, which I tried too. You jump and throw so that you keep your upward momentum and the throw can be actionable right after the jump. Pretty sure its possible to throw the frame after the jump comes out.

Also, Im skeptical of doing both at the same exact time. Although they programmed short hop shortcuts and stuff, Im not sure cargo carry would apply to that so maybe that doesnt work out.

Yeah I used to play characters like Young Link and Game & Watch in Melee but as I got older I realized I much prefer characters with stopping power
