It's version 1.0 just came out with main game complete and 90% of postgame done. Has the CFRU (complete fire red upgrade) as the creator of the game is the one that helped develop CFRU. Just started and you can literally customize your character's skin, hair and outfit color which is cool and different. Not to the level of Sword/Shield since this is a Fire Red game after all but pretty cool. You can also pick a difficulty setting. Gonna try and see how this is as Radical Red was way too frustrating at times.

Complete Fire Red Upgrade. Basically its an engine upgrade on any Fire Red base pokemon hack that has a ton of quality life changes and modernizes the game. Stuff like current gen exp share, showing IV grades on the pokemon screen, the dexnav, ability to use HM moves without wasting the move slot on the pokemon, ability to catch pokemon up to gen 7/8, moves and abilities up to gen 7/8, etc. It's really amazing.

Yep. Sometimes the sprites are wonky but all in all, a great job done.

Also, I forgot about Mega Evolutions and Dynamax/Raid Dens. Those are part of the CFRU too.

I think I'll like this hack?

Looks cool. Last unofficial I played was Reborn. I enjoyed it but I think it was a ways off from being completed.

I haven't heard of it before, but I have played a lot of pokemon reborn and thought that was really good. It's pretty damn difficult to and certainly puts to bed the idea that mono type gym leaders couldn't ever be challenging. the gen 6 and 7 sprites are well done too

It has a pretty good story from what I did so far too but it can get "very" edgy at times. which could be a turn off if you can't stand that kinda thing.

Funny you mentioned that last thing cuz they ask you the same thing at the beginning of Unbound lol. They ask if you want the darker version of the story but you can't switch after you already made the decision. You can however switch between the different difficulties. A lot of people say hard is still too easy and insane is a little too hard. Maybe along the lines of Radical Red?

Played through a bit and had to turn down the difficulty for...the 2nd or 3rd gym? Forgot. But it was probably more my fault for the team that I built because I tend to have favorites or so.

Riolu
Budew
Haunter

Against a dark gym. Everyone's in low 30s but Riolu and Budew don't like me enough to evolve yet -__- Gonna catch a growlithe/houndour to see if it makes a difference.

One thing I will say that Radical Red has an edge up on is making more pokemon viable since I don't think the creator made many improvements, if any at all, to the existing ones in Unbound. Friggin Greedent carried me a few times in Radical Red as a mini Snorlax lol

I'll never understand how people can get hype for pokemon games. Once you've played one, you've played them all aside from skin changes and maybe an extremely minor new mechanic that doesn't change anything in the grand scheme.

The combat isn't even good, it's way too dependent on RNG and rock paper scissors.
