not been a good week or three for tabletop gaming but hoping to get back on the wagon here, especially as we head into summer

the last normal race of my RWBR season saw Professor Pat Pending take the flag with an uncharacteristically dominant performance. Sweet JP's engine troubles take him out of the race, likely sealing Team NASCAR's win in the team standings as well as putting his individual lead into jeopardy. Team Fate makes up some ground, but still faces relegation if they can't pass Team PLAAY or somebody else.

Big playoff ramifications today in baseball, as the Osaka Cutters traveled to California to close out their season against the Dreams. The home team needed a win to keep their playoff chances alive, but it was not to be. The Dreams managed only 2 hits, while four Cutters went deep in a 9-0 rout. The Tabula division is all clinched up, with California falling out of the race at 3-4, Atlanta safe with 5-2 regardless of their last game, and Osaka sitting on top with 6-2 and a tiebreaker advantage should it come to that. Actually, I think Brevard and Wheaton have clinched in the Rasa division too, but the order isn't set yet, and I need the last few games for stats even if the playoffs were set in stone.

Flury Hardball: second block of the American League

Bombay/Chi-N (no, I don't remember why I have Chi-N in the AL instead of Chi-A): Chicago's Feeley powers up in game 1 before socking a walkoff dinger; Maharaj improves his fielding for Bombay, but it doesn't prevent a Chicago sweep following a lot of dingers.

Boston/NY: Boston takes game 1 and gets Glavin a boost, but NY's slinger (whose name is probably an unintentional censor bypass) finds his stuff for game 2, shutting them out and splitting the series.

LA/London: LA takes game 1, with both teams having to use their full bench after an injury and a fight. London roared back with a decisive win, off the back of a Blake powerup-and-dinger combo.

Chicago and Boston lead the way at 3-1, while Bombay is still looking for their first win.

Mario brings out his guest at this time, the underhanded champion Stone Cold! Austin brags that Mario is just not smart enough to do what needs to be done, and that's why he's out of action instead of wearing the strap! Mario is still kinda banged up, but still tries to stand up for himself....and eats a Stunner! Austin looks down at him....and gets hit with the title belt he dropped! Kora is back for more after getting cheated out of his shot! Mario finds his feet as Kora clobbers Austin! Kora puts the exclamation point on the beatdown with a piledriver onto the belt! He pins Austin until refs pull him off so Austin can be stretchered out....

-MATCH: @Strife2 v. Zangief
Handshake before the match, guess we're going Code of Honor. Quick and dirty brawl. Strife near takes Zangief's head off with a clothesline, and although Zangief hits a tremendous backbreaker a bit later, Strife is able to battle back and pick up a clean win. Zangief goes on a rampage, furious at the loss, and destroys some cameras!

-MATCH: Bryan v. Goldberg
Goldberg is out without the rest of YMD tonight, maybe they're talking about the Bang/Bison thing. Classic David and Goliath setup, with Bryan actually managing a somewhat convincing Jackhammer! Bryan picks up the win shortly after that. Kinda hard to take the Jackhammer seriously now!

-Truth rallies Bowser and Ludwig for the 6-man tag; MLMF is better off without Eddv anyway!

Eddv doesn't seem to quite jive with the CeNation, but he doesn't need to in order to smack around his former stablemates. Bowser gets beat down pretty badly, but manages the tag out to Ludwig. Ludwig fares better, powering out of Cena's springboard stunner into a reverse atomic drop. After a series of hot tags on both sides, Cena gets another shot at the stunner, hitting it on Bowser this time. AA! 1....2....3!

-Cueto is not all that thrilled that Eddv seems to be taking his banishment from MLMF (which Cueto set up) personally.

-MATCH: Kora v. Flair v. @XIII_rocks
Nothing quite like a heel v. heel v. heel match to encapsulate the title picture! If Austin doesn't make it to Summer Spectacular, you gotta figure Kora's earned a spot in the title match....unless Flair takes him out here. And of course XIII's buddy Bang has earned a shot already! It seems like Kora's match to lose in the early stages....but when he attempts to piledrive XIII on the belt, the ref throws him out of the match! XIII never really got out of the blocks, but with it reduced to a singles match, he starts a rally by slipping out of the Figure Four. Flair goes for the begging sucker punch spot, but that only works on faces, and XIII hits the 13 Rocks. Tails Doll is on the ramp! How long has it been there? Doesn't matter, Bang chases it off. Ref bump, and the rest of YMD swarm the ring! Flair holds out for a bit, but the numbers catch up to him, and he gets Pedigreed for 3.

-Austin has been hospitalized, and is not cleared to wrestle! His title is vacated, and the tentative plan is Kora v. Bang at Summer Spectacular!

-Mario is backstage with @MajinZidane to put him over. Mario is still not quite ready to get back into the ring, but he's gonna give Boko his energy so he can finally break through tonight!

-MATCH: Legolas v. Boko
Boko DOES seem kinda fired up tonight, and is able to keep up with Legolas despite the latter's speed advantage. Boko yeets Legolas to the floor, and almost wins by countout. Boko Bomb....but Legolas slips out! They battle back and forth a bit longer....and Boko hits it the second time!

-UCA TITLE+YMD MEMBERSHIP+GRUDGE: Champion and HC Champ Bangladseh DuPree v. M. Bison
Bang gets in a shot with the belts before the bell, but Bison retaliates in kind. Bang slips out of a suplex and kicks Bison's leg out from under him. Mean looking knee drop to the head. Bison comes back with a Scissor Kick and a toss to the floor. When he follows, Bang catches him with a head scissors! But when they get back inside, Bison hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Bang and Bison trade chops, with Bang actually coming out on top.....until Bison just boots her in the head. Bang rolls out of the way of a stomp....but Bison sees that coming, and stomps her anyway. Bang's in trouble, but grabs Bison by the nuts! Ref breaks it up, but Bison has potentially lost his momentum. Bang runs in with two bulldogs, getting a two count. Bison's just refusing to say die here....and catches Bang with a big suplex as she argues with the ref! 1....2....no! Big Bang! 1......2.....3! It was a solid effort, but nobody can stop Bangy Two Belts!

Other games coming back, nature is healing. So hey my hard drive is kil which probably means my long-standing baseball project is also kill (most other stuff was online or elsewhere!) I have started a new one, where 8 teams of 12 play each other, and the winner of each game gets to steal a player from the loser. (but the best players can't be touched until the team is knocked out by being reduced below 9 players) Opening Day had the Rokkenjima Witches at the Fuyuki Singularities, where homers from Jeanne d'Arc, Iskandar, and Nero offset a late three-run double by Battler. Despite an injury to star catcher Mash, Team Fate wins 4-3, allowing them to steal Jayden. Jayden will come in for Nero in RF, while he will be replaced on the Witches by Rethabile.

hey nobody told me to watch Kuzu no Honkai/Scum's Wish when i asked for winter recs.

i actually made it to to the end of ep 3 which is way more than i can say for a bunch of shows. bit annoying how a bunch of scenes just turn into them narrating exactly how they feel but it's still entertaining enough in a twisted soap opera way that i haven't dropped it yet. i hope this teacher character turns out to be as much of a bitch as i'm hoping she will.

Idea.
Whereas: I just realized that a lot of my mental health stuff kinda looks like I burned out on a lot of my projects at once
Whereas: The burnout isn't going away even as my mental health continues to improve, but I am able to engage normally with things that feel fresh
Whereas: A favorite online variant/player aid has disappeared
Whereas: I want to keep this going
Whereas: There is a second wrestling TTRPG/sim/thingy that I also really like (Total Control Wrestling, which failed a kickstarter attempt fairly recently but I have the core book because I was a playtester)
Perhaps: I might switch to that system. I'm currently thinking about maybe using TCW for "TV" shows and sticking with Face to the Mat for "PPVs"

Potential benefits:
-Maybe switching it up would help get my mojo back?
-TCW is a bit more streamlined. In the time I could run a six-match FttM show, I bet I could run a TCW show long enough to use most/all of our roster.
-TCW does a good job of making sure everybody has something to do. Possibly several somethings, but I think it would un-float a lot of our aimless floaters.
-TCW I have all on my computer, instead of FttM where I need my hard copy and some table space, so I might have more/easier opportunities to play.

Potential drawbacks:
-FttM is tag-based characters, and has outcomes that infrequently alter a character's skills. TCW is point-based, and has an EXP system. It would be a bit awkward to convert everybody over, and a lot awkward to make them work together if I keep FttM PPVs.
-FttM is I think a bit more adaptable to some of the crazy gimmick matches I want to run, which is a big reason I want to keep it for big shows.
-TCW has a bit less variety. Like in FttM, pretty much every number you can roll is a different result on every chart, whereas TCW you only have like twenty options per chart. (I haven't mathed out the difference here, it might not be as big as I think since FttM uses d36 and TCW uses d100)

Your mileage may vary:
-TCW seems less conducive to injuries/retirements/deaths/other roster shakeups.
-TCW doesn't play through matches move by move like FttM, so match descriptions would likely be, like, two sentences most. Instead of being able to go blow by blow, all the
-TCW picks the matches itself. You'll get more variety and fewer F/F or H/H matches, but you'll get less logical (ie story-driven) matches outside of PPV, and they might be in weird orders on the card (like opening with a title match and having jobbers in the main)
-However I wind up converting FttM guys to TCW guys, it probably won't be exactly the same in terms of balance, so we could get some different "power rankings."

We're still in the brainstorming stage so let me know what you think! (if for some reason you're reading this without having been tagged)

I think I might actually skip the progression mechanics for TCW- it'll cut down a lot on bookkeeping and fiddliness. Doing that will also simplify the conversion process a lot.
EDIT: It'll make the roster kinda "same-y" but I would like a bit more parity in the booking anyway. I have some ideas for how to run in both systems in the same time. How would y'all feel about having a vote every PPV to give somebody a bit of a boost? Not like a big deal thing but maybe like a few points to whoever had the best cycle and maybe a few more to whoever just is your favorite, or something like that.

If anybody actually cares about the other solo board games/RPGs/sim games I'm using for bump material, those are getting shaken up too btw, regardless of what I do for switching over to TCW. Other PLAAY games are getting cut down to a single "slot"- I'm not sure if that's gonna be golf or racing, but baseball's gone and Fury Hardball is replaced by B.L.A.S.E., a game that's *actually* designed to emulate Blaseball. With some of the other changes, you might start actually seeing Usurper writeups as well.

In the meantime my Blaseball team is ready to go. BLASE is more of an RPG than a sports sim- I'll play full games for us and report the results, but most of the other teams and players won't even get stats unless something weird happens. (well, something weird that would make me want to actually roll up other teams in full. Plenty of weird things should happen, it's blaseball!) Regular season will be 18 games, post season will be max 8 if we even qualify. Hoping to go for a few seasons, in which case we'll have Elections after every season to shake up rules and teams, in Blaseball fashion. (and if this garners any kinda interest, I'll let y'all vote!) I've posted a list of everybody's FttM attributes, and a score that includes a few other relevant data points. TCW really just runs off an "overall" kinda stat, so I am going to take from FttM:
-How many attributes you have (and whether they are half the time or all the time)
-Manager status (instead of getting the regular points, most people with Helped will get properly statted out managers for TCW)
-TV rating
-Grudge rating
-Any changes from the default values for your moves
and try to figure out a formula for crunching all that into a single value. (and sometimes a manager) Once I have a (hopefully remotely balanced) formula, it shouldn't be a big deal to take buffs or debuffs from one system and adjust somebody's sheet accordingly in the other system.

tl;dr: Progress! And if you're curious about somebody's attributes or relative strength, there's more info on the google sheet than there was before.

More progress: I came up with a formula, and plugged all the appropriate numbers into it. If you want a lot of info, it's on the "Conversion Reference" tab. If you just want to look at your number or whatever, it's on the roster tab. The quick and dirty if you want to do that is:
-TCW matches basically just care about whether or not there is a gap of 50 between the competitors (or team totals)
-They also care about Managers, which are indicated by 1 or 2 H in the third column. Those give a solid benefit, so expect those people to do better than their TWV indicates.
-The range goes from 100-400, with 250 as the default/average
-Everybody started out with what would have converted to 250, so you can see that there has been a lot of movement up or down since the start! (But I think FttM isn't as "balanced" between attributes as I assumed, so one 250-point kit might be a lot stronger than another. Or maybe some of y'all are just really unlucky.)

It's interesting to me that some people at the top of the rankings have had lots of success (Kora, Maniac) and some....haven't. (Boko, Zangief) I reckon the conversion will shake things up a bit, and I reckon I'm okay with that! It might actually be interesting to switch back and forth and get some people that do better on PPV than TV and vice versa.

We're not ready to run a show yet, but we're getting there!

-Feuds will be tracked more formally than before, leading to probably more Grudge Matches than inherent to FttM. They'll still give +/- 1 TV level. (or TWV)
-I assigned a bunch to start with, on the "TCW Aides" tab. Some are more of a stretch than others.
-Managers rolled up in a new tab! Also they have their own column on the main sheet.

Proposed heat voting:
-Voting will happen before every PPV.
-You can vote once each for the categories of kayfabe performance and just whoever you want to support.
-Winners will get 5 points, which isn't big but could add up over time.
-I'll break ties.
