I play on chess.com compulsively. My favorite opener is the fried liver attack. it's a trap which involves forcing a knight sacrifice by attacking the black queen and rook with the knight. It's a trap which involves a very specific line the opponent must play, which is essentially a mistake. So, it's fairly easy to counter. I was playing 3 minute chess and I noticed someone playing into it a little too eagerly. There's a counter trap which involves black sacrificing their bishop with a check. When I noticed them playing the two night defense very quickly (this is required for me to played the fried liver attack, but usually the Italian opening gives the opponent a bit of pause if they don't recognize the fried liver attack set up), I abandoned the fried liver attack. They went ahead and activated their bishop anyway, completing the Giuoco Piano opening, and I pushed their bishop and knight back on the B file with a pawn. I play that a lot and apparently it is called Bird's attack, but I'm not sure how sound it actually is. This usually lets me pick up the E pawn. This time, they kicked their knight back in front of the king when I attacked it. Big mistake! Now I can not only take their pawn similarly to the fried liver attack, but my bishop protects my knight and their queen is entombed. I can take their queen. They try the bishop gambit and knight attack on my king before realizing it's futile because their queen is entombed. gg --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I would clap but I'm not American lololol
Well done though. I'm worried about opening traps and am kinda reluctant to play well-known openings as a result --- ref is was a less bad sack ... Copied to Clipboard!
