Why? To continue witnessing the legacy of said series get desecrated? It's okay for things to end. Not everything needs a reboot, remake, revival, etc.. Let things reach their natural conclusion and stay dead. More content just for the sake of more content is soulless.

People dont like change and would rather latch onto a show that is lingering than get into something new.

This is what kept Supernatural alive an it end up leading to a conclusion that could never have satisfied everyone. By season 12, they had already met the one true god as well as being on the same level or more powerful than him. It got real fucking silly.

I think it's interesting seeing how many IPs with no activity over 20 years are suddenly getting sequels.

One outlier is the return of Twin Peaks. The show used a lot of restraint and almost contempt for anybody who thought it was going a meme fest with cherry pie and damn fine coffee everywhere.

I agree to some extent, but I can also see the rationale for hoping a series sticks around with the off-chance that it might improve.

After all, if they just let Star Wars "die", we would have never gotten Mandalorian.
