Yeah, the last case is a beast. I think I'm the opposite of you when it comes to the jury. I don't particularly like it as a gameplay mechanic because it just bogs the trial down. Plus, I feel like it minimized the importance of the normal cross-examination because it felt like half of them just end with the jury interrupting and declaring your client guilty, and you don't even have to find contradictions in them.

On the other hand, I kind of enjoy the silliness of some of the jurors, like completely innocent tourist juror.

in general as a gameplay mechanic i find the justifications for all the gimmicks pretty bad, especially ones that break the cross examination formula - perceive is the worst but the combination of pursue and jury is really rough too

in practice jury winds up often being a fun (nonsensical) way to inject information into the game but yeah it bogs pacing badly because of how fornulaic it is. van zieks always seems to say the same rote dialogue before and after it too, making it worse

also the non-conclusion on g1-5 is hilarious given what expectations were built up around it as a seeming finale case

i was thinking of trying the wheel of time series as well. but i just read that robert jordan didn't write the last few books, which i found pretty disappointing. i prefer reading fantasy series that were entirely written by one person.

Well, Robert Jordan left extremely detailed notes of how the last book was supposed to end (since he knew he would probably die before he finished), and Sanderson followed them. In fact, it was so detailed that he had to break them into three separate books to fit it all in. I've heard high praise for how he finished things off.

Yeah, from what I understand, Jordan handpicked Sanderson to finish the series.

The last three books done by Sanderson are fantastic and among the best in the series. Some parts feel different, for better and for worse, but mostly it just feels like Jordan.

It's been really long since I played OG Nier so I could be forgetting things that would affect my opinion here but I think one major advantage of young Nier here is the power of the transition to Punished Nier. It definitely feels a lot starker here than I recall it being in the OG with Papa Nier.

Oh wow, a 3D Kirby game. Hopefully this one has more substance than Kirby Star Allies. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of content in that one.

Tennessee vs. Florida tonight

Gotta hope the Gators have a bit of a letdown after they came up short against Bama and they overlook us

Bah, that swing in momentum probably ends it with us flubbing that 4th down play and Florida punishing us for it with the TD.

I'm still taking some optimism out of this because Tennessee has at least shown they can move the ball and make big plays against a good team. They just make too many self-inflicted mistakes. The defense is still a problem, but part of it is probably because they're on the field too much due to the pace of play Heupel likes to play at.

Also one thing I learned from Milton coming in at the end is that we just should not play him anymore if we can help it. He overthrows everyone, even on simple out routes.

Fantasy not going so well this week. All I've got left after today is Lamb and my opponent has Dak, so that feels like a no-win situation.
