I read that they booed Moe Brooks (the governor who introduced Trump and helped encourage people to riot at the capitol) because he suggested that they move on from 2020. He was openly calling it a stolen election, but they dont want to move on from it.

"I believe totally in your freedoms, I do, you gotta do what you gotta do, but I recommend take the vaccines. I did it. It's good," he said, drawing boos from the crowd of supporters.
"That's okay, that's alright," Trump continued, brushing off the disapproval. "But I happen to take the vaccine. If it doesn't work, you'll be the first to know. But it is working. You do have your freedoms, you have to maintain that." - Trump

How hard would it have been to say that last year?

I thought most people knew that he was pro vaccine. Didn't he fund some of the vaccine development and then try to call it the Trump vaccine or something along those lines?

Hell it's kinda why I was a bit saddened that Twitter banned him after he lost the election, I thought maybe he would have been one of the people who could convinced alot of the antivaccers to get the vaccine lol

he's sort of back peddled on some of his most toxic bs before and his fans didn't know how to react. like when he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "You know that whole 'Lock Her Up' thing, we can move on from that," and the crowd was confused. He was basically implying that not everything he says is to be taken literally but his hateful ass supporters legitimately think he's an agent of God to punish people they don't like.

Yeah hes been calling it the Trump vaccine the whole time and takes credit for its creation with operation warp speed. Hes an incoherent flip flopper on masks and whether COVID is a hoax or dangerous foreign weapon. But not the Trump vaccine.

He said a lot of things in the months when the pandemic was first ramping up. "It's not serious, we took care of it already, it should be gone by [oncoming months]", and then he pushed that... what was it, the medicine before the current ivermectin obsession?

It's just too much fucking spam to keep up with.

The thing is that they weren't even that common just a few years back. Republicans were fine with vaccines, it was mostly wealthy liberal soccer moms and homeopathy nutjobs who railed against it.

Before the proliferation of the Delta variantwhich now accounts for about 95 percent of the nation's cases

Wait, what? Does this mean anything? Like that the non-Delta COVID strains have been suppressed? 95% of cases being Delta variant surprises me.

Trump sure has become a cautionary tale over the years. I can still remember as a kid using him as an example for someone "rich and famous" and practicing his famous catch phrase: "youuuu're fired!" It's amazing how much your perception of someone can change once you start adulting. I hope I don't wither down into a meme when I turn of age.

Trump spent 4 years whipping those people into a frenzy. They're on auto pilot now. The only thing that will change some minds is enough of them dying from covid and even then, that's not a guarantee (as we've already seen).

It was lib mom homeopaths, Republicans, and apolitical people. Antivax was more common and growing than we knew.

I remember in a 2015 GOP primary debate they all spent like an hour saying our children take too many vaccines.

https://www.politico.com/story/2015/09/vaccines-2016-republicans-213811
Only 59% of Republicans and 75% of Democrats in 2015 thought vaccines should continue to be required.

In the US people avoid seeing doctors because its so expensive. Theyll search online for home remedies instead and wind up in an antivax Facebook group.

You can't change them. You just have to deplatform them until they can't recruit anymore people to their insanity and then just wait for them to die.

And all the republicans who want to hold on to their power or be president some day will see this and grift even harder and I'm sure after this Trump will never pedal vaccinations ever again, dude hates negative attention, he might start calling into fox news in a few weeks peddling more conspiracy theories about the vaccine and blame anything from his administration on someone else, it's what he does.
