Soup_or_Science 09/17/21 1:56:10 PM #1:	I mean if it was me, it's on a case by case or half the time basis, I'm not always chatting people up or trying to be more friendly with them than I'd think was necessary or in their comfort zone, but me and my mom went to a McDonald's this morning I think we're at the first window where you pay and the person must have said "How are you?" which was a mistake because my mom loves to talk and she's all "I'm good! It's FRIDAY! :) "... -slightly awkward pause- "The weather's good, bla bla bla, we both have jobs :)" ...another awkward pause and I guess she turns around and hands the card back So we go to the next window, not much left to say to the next employee besides "Thank you" and she literally just goes "uh huh". Not even with a cheery lift, it's that one-tone groan, but I'm just kinda like damn lol I'd have loved to see them smile I really didn't care though, it's not that they didn't reciprocate it, it's kind of just the way they did her yknow? idk There's no one really "at fault" besides my mom's TRYING to be friendly, i guess not everyone shares her Friday morning enthusiasm so they did her wrong yet no one's at fault I have some unresolved formatting of this logic So I guess all that's left to do is to go beat those employee's collective asses into next Friday, and maybe they'll appreciate their civic duty to the public and tell em Gimme my goddamn egg mcmuffin. But yeah, aside from that, people in the service industry rarely get weekends off. You'll have some fucked slip schedule like having Monday and Wednesday off, so you don't even get 2 off in a row, so being like "yay! Weekend!" gets annoying. Other obnoxious phrases: "it's such a nice day out today!" Or my "favorite": "I can't believe you have to work today! You should be home with family!"
