Rich would be over a mill per year in these parts. In some places that would still be upper middle class

Raw numbers without taking cost of living into consideration kind of makes this useless.

those numbers mean nothing without context. the area being lived in along with # of dependents really matters here.

$100k for a single guy in the middle of Iowa? BIG BALLIN'

$100k for a family of four in the Bay Area? Almost poverty

I would agree.
I made the poll results lower because I was curious how low people would vote.

her ticket to that was given to her, but i'm sure you already know that and since it doesn't fit your narrative you conveniently omit that information

I call people in my daily life rich if they make 6 figures or more. When you start talking about class division and stuff, the rich are multimillionaires.

even $1 million/year is middle class here. The cost of living here is absurd.

Depends on where you live, but I'd say a quarter million plus in most areas with some obvious exceptions.

To consider them rich from income alone, I'd have to say perhaps $120k or so. Though that's in NZ$, so a bit less in US$.

However, income doesn't tell the whole picture; most rich people here are rich via assets that increase in value or create further assets, not via income. I would consider someone in that situation but with only $20k a year of income to be richer than someone on a $100k income but no significant assets.

I dunno. If you're making a million a year, I don't think you can be fairly called middle class, even if you choose to live in an area that is even richer than you.

People need to have a better understanding of the difference between income and wealth.

You can make $50,000,000/year and still be poor.

You can make your own standards and not get sucked up onto others ridiculous standards tho. It's crazy to me how much people take for granted now that they can always see someone with way more right in their sights
