One of my biggest issues with the last book was how the Slytherins were portrayed.

Every single one of them was like "yeah fuck that Potter kid, let Voldemort take over the world lol"

Yeah Draco got cold feet and his mom came off sorta sympathetic, but that was about it

I think I saw somewhere that Rowling wrote it stupid on purpose because she doesn't like sports. So she just wanted to make something stupid where only Harry mattered.

They're supposed to be the cunning and ambitious ones. Everything else is just sort of a side-effect.

It's also your perception being shaped by the fact that you're reading Harry's story in a specific time period - Rowling herself mentioned that there were plenty of good Slytherin, you mostly just didn't get to read about them. Not to mention the fact that even in the story you DID read, one of the most important good guys WAS Slytherin (so much so that Harry named his future kid after him), and there were at least a few blatant assholes in Gryffindor.
