what would have happened?

I know people who think that the government should have never given the extra $600 or $300 in unemployment because all it does is encourage laziness and that people should work for their money no matter what

There would be an absurd amount of homeless people right now and our future rent prices would skyrocket to compensate (like they already are, but not as drastically)

There was a period in mid-2020 where people weren't hiring and mass laying off. We had hotels that completely shut down for 2 or 3 months. The hotels that stayed open in that timeframe slashed their staff and cut services.

And they still are where places are no longer giving this extra money, so why do you think something would happen when it isn't?

This. The hiring blitz we have now is to replace and try to get to level a before the pandemic.

Also not everyone is able to work at Amazon or a Grocery store. Jobs are not one size fits all.

The idea that people would get lazy and not want to work off of $300 extra a month is delusional as fuck.

people in this country have no idea of what living wages are or what a normal ass cost of living is like.

so would you say the USA is a 3rd world country disguised as a first world? because what you said had all the makings of one

not to mention the 1% hoard all the wealth and money and live free on our hard earned tax dollars

No because "first/second/third world" distinctions are obsolete and irrelevant to the modern day world.

It is very much a developed country but one that still lags behind other developed countries in terms of social welfare.

You can handle Amazon if you enjoy crawling from your car to your home after work sometimes. The shifts go by pretty quickly because they expect a lot.

We know what that would look like, because no country on Earth spent as much on pandemic aid as we did lol

So Europe for example is now lagging far behind us in economic growth because they didn't spend as much.

Some people have standards and self pride.

I dont see why people would be concerned about standards in that case considering the alternative would be unemployment
