I hope this increasingly-shameless attempt to prop DeathSantis up as a potential presidential candidate backfires spectacularly. One one hand, you could pour a steaming pile of actual shit into a suit and teach it to say 'Fuck Biden,' and the base would happily eat it up. On the other, DeathSantis has all of Trump's incompetence and whiny bitch attitude, but without an ounce of Trump's charisma and silver spoon-bred 'fuck it I do what I want' energy; so I'm still crossing my fingers that he'll get destroyed if and when he actually has to start selling himself to the nation, as opposed to just being 'that guy in Florida who's sticking it to Biden.'

I do actually know a few pro-public health Republicans here in Florida, and they despise what DeathSantis is doing to the point of claiming to be ashamed to be Republican; these are the same people who bent over backwards trying to justify Trump's pandemic response blunders a year ago. The difference is that, if you were of a mind to do so, you could at least semi-plausibly deny that Trump was actively harming public health, and instead just screwing up; DeathSantis is actively, aggressively, and overtly undermining public health efforts for the sake of cheap political points, and does not have a shred of that benefit of the doubt.
