[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

no one understands the process

we assume a certain set of events happen

but like all science, an assumption is meaningless until a hypothesis is tested and verified

therefore, it is a belief without evidence till we find life on a body that is not earth

Imagine trying to explain that Earth isnt flat to ancient people. You can draw them the model & show them evidence.... But you can't show them pictures. You can't corroborate it.

This is no different

fyi ancient people did not believe the earth was flat

Oh yeah?

We got Babylonians, Aztecs, and Cavemen worshipping the round earth?

how?

if you die and your body is broken down and eaten by bacteria, how are you reincarnated?
you aren't unless you believe in something like soul energy which then you are just as supernatural as the other forms of afterlife

aka there is nothing of you left to reincarnate, your are stripped atomically. even the electricity in your nervous system probably went to like the power company and got used to power some light or something

C. There is no evidence for it. There also really isn't any evidence against it either.

Having taken enough psychedelics, I'm open to the idea. But I think it would be much weirder than most people imagine when they discuss a potential afterlife. So far outside the bounds of human experience that even conceptualizing it is next to impossible. And things like personal identity probably wouldn't apply anymore.

Why are you alive right now though

Why are you in the body that you're in?

That's the first question. You see there's billions of people out there. Billions of living things. You could've been a dog, or even a cockroach

I think there's legitimacy to the idea of souls and spirits. Your soul probably ends up in another newly born living thing. You'll just never know about it

Seems more believable than you just never getting another chance at life ever again.

(Your) consciousness is not limited purely to your physical experiences, per se, a point which ought to be evident to you from a very early age, and that is an extension of the nature of reality. You cannot experience your own death. You will experience something else. Will that something be good, or bad, or .. something different? It's all about time.

You can always be relied upon to state something completely mental as if you're speaking from a point of authority. I love it.

It's a nice thought and the idea of an afterlife can give some people a peace of mind. Otherwise yeah there hasn't been any good evidence of it's existence.

There weren't always billions of people, though. If we're all reincarnated from past lives, where did all the additional life come from?
