I never could put my finger on why, but for some reason they never set well with me. Given how much praise they got, I wanted to like them a lot more than I did. But it's interesting how time can highlight more clearly the things that bug you. They clearly, even for the time, had absolutely awful combat, terrible writing, unlikable characters and extremely sophomoric mission design.

You are absolutely wrong about GTA SA. It does have flaws and could use an actual remaster, but its an all-time classic.

You're not wrong on the controls being worse than garbage tbh.

Like Oblivion, it was more than the sum of its parts when it came out.
