First book was a slog. Barely got through it. Dunno about the others.

If you enjoy fantasy, then sure is.

Just be prepared for some slogs at points and the vast majority of women to be barely more than caricatures for a lot of the series.

I love Sanderson, but its like 11 books before he came in to help finish it after Jordan died iirc

Yup. He did the last book and it is a good end, given the circumstances.

Is a LOT of books to commit to though, but still one I greatly enjoyed despite all the writing issues Jordan has.

Depends. The characters can be kinda unlikable at times, and the author has a tendency to beat certain themes into the ground like he's Cpt_Pineapple. And for a little while in the middle the pacing notoriously slows down to draw things out a bit. I like it, but a lot of people drop it.

I say yes. It's my favorite fantasy series overall, and I've read through it all like 6 times.

Jordan was an amazing writer in his own right. If youre reading it because you like Sanderson, just read a Sanderson series. If you want to try something new that is amazing, read the wheel of time.

Yes but....

It really drags at time. There's times a thousand pages go by and essentially the plot doesn't really advance at all.

Yes and you can get through a lot faster if you just skim through the paragraphs that describe clothes and stuff. I'm rereading it now and am flying through them this way.

Nah, Terry Goodkind is the Cpt_Pineapple.

I'm pretty sure he has an entire book that is just shitty communism analogues and weird BDSM fetish play.

In a series that is basically plagiarized Wheel of Time but viewed through the eyes of a creepy moron.

I read a few of the sword of truth books. I just couldn't anymore after 4 or so of them.

Also the part with Richard in the hands of the mord sith was fucking never-ending. Did he edit them himself cause how it didn't get drastically shortened is beyond me.

Only made it through the first half of the first book of The Sword of Truth, I'll have to take your word for it. Though one of my other frustrations with WoT is how it's completely impossible for any of the characters to just be casual with each other. Like every single interaction is just a couple people trying to exert dominance over each other and drown the other one out. Particularly when there's a woman involved. It's so tedious to read.

Eh just ordered the first 3 books, but then found out there is a prequel book. Should I read that one first or when is the best time?

And yeah the sword of truth was really bad. Im hoping the wheel of time is much better than those books. I think i made it to book 5 or 6 before i gave up on them

it's safest to read the prequel between 10 and 11, as that's when it was published. you can probably get to it a little earlier, but definitely don't read it first.
