Ok, I asked y'alls what your favourite dead franchises are that you'd like to have a remake of... and Guardian Legend comes up a lot (along with Clash at Demonhead and 2D Goemon)

So... here's the follow up

What is the appeal of Guardian Legend (to you)?

What do you want of a remake?

What company do you think would do it the best? (as a 2D game don't just auto-say Wayforward, it's an acceptable answer but don't just auto it)

The name and cover made me buy it as a kid. I sucked at it at first, but it was still fun. I beat it on a sick day. Didn't have anything else to do. I learned to love it by getting far. Kinda reminds me of Blaster Master.

Remake would have flying parts fps cockpit, maybe vr compat. Overhead blaster zones would be 3D cuboid fps maybe with 3rd person optional? Maybe a Metroid Prime deal.

never heard of it before. reminds me of SMS games.

I love cross-genre in general and always thought you should have a game with shooter sections and also walking sections. (Xexyz is another game kind of like that.)

a remake should just focus on doing the two gameplay types well, and also maybe finding a way to blur the edge between them a little. I don't know the game though so can't offer much more detail.
