Once I correctly guessed the number of mini butterfingers in a jar. I got all 50 something butterfingers AND the jar. Can anyone top that?

if we are talking straight games of chance then probably a hair care set at a high end barber.

If we are talking fortuitous luck, I was a Reddit mod who did 2 hours of work and the company of who I modded for flew me out business class to Europe for a week all expense paid.

In 2001 or 2002 when the GBA was new, I entered a Nintendo Power mail-in contest for four GBAs and FZero, plus I think link cables.

Won and kept one for myself, gave one to my brother, and the other two to my cousins.

Life hasn't topped that yet!

When I was a kid my sister entered the family in a competition to get the last Harry Potter book at midnight at the Natural History Museum, and then have Rowling sign it. So at home I've got a signed first edition copy of Deathly Hallows somewhere. Wasn't technically me who entered it but if it counts I'd probably say that.

I've won $100 off of a few instant lottery tickets. My favorite memory is still winning a bag of potato chips and a 2 liter of Coke from a Cub Scout event.

Won $5k on a final score for football squares once, was pretty neat. But non gambling when i was 5 i found the special egg in a huge easter egg hunt where i live and got a 4 foot tall chocolate bunny as a prize.

Either that or a gigantic stuffed dog that was more like a piece of furniture. I was a kid and who knows what the dollar value of that thing was. I do remember that some man offered me $50 for it, though.

Nothing comes to mind for me personally, but when I was a kid my mom guessed how many footballs fit into a custom playhouse that some club at Purdue built and we got that.

In modern terms, it was basically an unfurnished/unfinished tiny house.

I play a gacha game called epic 7 and I placed in the first major pvp tournament they held for $1,000

I actually forgot but I did win a couple of hundred in a football squares game once for a super bowl.

I think I made around 1200 at a smash tournament once, but it was 3 separate prizes technically

Off the top of my head, a kayak in a raffle at work.

Monetary, $1k on a scratch-off. Close second was placing in the money at a buy-in Hold'em tournament at a casino for $800.

I guess I can also count "student loans deleted" when my stepdad died, but I hardly count that as "winning."

Non-monetary:
-my copy of Smash 4 and Kirby Amiibo were free for winning a local tournament on release day.
-I won a rug and a few Celtic-style tapestries as an after prom raffle prize. Still got one of the tapestries.
-A canvas bag full of scifi books for winning a raffle at a library other than the one I work at.

Just got back from doing stuff. This has been a blast reading your alls responses. Tons of variety of things people have won.

I won a PS3 in like 2010, so probably that.

I won one copy of each card in the MtG D&D set on MTGO a few months ago. Thats at least like $50 if I sell the ones that are worth some money... so that may be #2.

I won tickets to a jazz concert... I believe it was Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Noveau Band, shortly before Maynard died. But it was one of my very top choices as far as concerts go, so it meant a lot to me.

But yeah, nothing super valuable.

1. I got a Beanie Baby from a raffle when my favorite pizza place opened a new location in 1998.
2. I got $5 from a scratch ticket my uncle put in my birthday card.
3. Kokoro's post reminded me of that one time I actually won a store Yu-Gi-Oh tournament and got some booster packs. I placed a few other times but I didn't have the money to win regularly, and me winning that once was a fluke.
4. I think I won a free video game once. Don't remember the details.

I once won like 800 gumballs in like 4th grade because we had to guess how many were in this big ass jar. I guess I was the only person to apply math to it and multiplied what I counted as the width amount/height and then subtracted a handful due to them being spherical.

Other than that, gift cards from raffles.

$750 in a MTG tournament. Also won a Mox Jet at a different tournament that I'm still holding onto. Guess that's worth more

Thats exactly how I won those butterfingers. Simple math got me to a guess that was either spot on or one off.

Hit a progressive jackpot in pai gow poker for ~12k. That's pretty low for that jackpot but I sure wasn't complaining

Over a certain dollar amount the casino is required to issue you a 1099-G and it's generally a better idea to have a good chunk of tax withheld immediately from the winning as opposed to promising yourself you wont spend it all only to owe 30% of it to the government later lol.

An Elsa Nendoroid from a giveaway I guess...I don't think I've won straight up monetary prize.

A GBA game from a TV sweepstakes. Yu Gi Oh Dungeon Dice Monsters. It was nice because I probably never would have bought it. That's a sweepstakes but I'm not sure I've won any more valuable prizes in competitions either.

EDIT: Technically got a larger prize from a different competition at $3,600, but I had to split that one with a partner.

I found a $50 out on the factory floor at work the other night.

My grade 5 class won some schoolwide book-a-thon contest and I was randomly selected from my class to win a free book as a result. The two books looked like shit and I didn't want either. Book I picked was shit from what I remember.
