The Metropolitan Polices decision to limit the findings of the unpublished Sue Gray party report has been described as absolute nonsense, with public anger over the issue growing.

Shortly after it launched its own inquiry into reports of illegal lockdown parties in Downing Street, the police instructed the Cabinet Office to remove some details from its long-awaited report, which had been due to be released this week.

The move was taken to avoid prejudicing the Met Polices criminal investigation, the force said in a statement on Friday morning.

As a result, Sue Grays inquiry can now only make minimal reference to events currently being investigated by the police.

Lawyers were quick to rubbish the Mets justification. This is absolute nonsense from the Met Police. A purely factual report by Sue Gray cannot possibly prejudice a police investigation, former chief prosecutor Nazir Afzal said.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Bereaved Families For Justice campaign group suggested the force had broken the trust of the public.

Corruption experts warn Boris Johnsons government is worst since WWII

Boris Johnsons administration is the most corrupt in Britain since the Second World War, experts have said. Experts have warned that Boris Johnsons administration is more corrupt than any UK government since the Second World War.

An absolute failure of integrity at No 10 could have potentially serious consequences for the UK if allowed to fester, researchers at Sussex Universitys Centre for the Study Corruption warned.

Met police move disproportionate, says former prosecutions chief Lord Macdonald, former director of public prosecutions, suggested the Metropolitan Police stance that the Sue Gray report should omit details that could avoid any prejudice was disproportionate.
He told BBC Radio 4s World At One programme: If were talking about fixed penalty notices like parking tickets, essentially if were talking about that kind of resolution, then to take the rather grave step to delay a report that is going to shed public light on the subject matter of what may be a major public scandal, I think that is undesirable and I think it may be a misjudgment.

It is really to say that if we are simply talking about lockdown breaches and fixed penalty notices, this move by the police this morning seems to be disproportionate.

This is Russia Tier blatant open corruption.

And the country still doesn't care.

The word pathetic doesn't even do the Tories justice anymore. This is beyond pathetic. It's utterly grotesque. And the lack of response revealing how they will just get away with it is depressing

I gotta admit I thought Boris was just going to refuse to release it like the last couple of times

Getting the police to do it In such blatant corruption out of causal knowledge the population won't care and will still vote Tory was an admission of how far the UK has fallen

They're not even pretending anymore

if you've got free time look at Ian Hislop taking to MPs about bribes... its as I said beyond pathetic

I feel in that scenario my response would be "you can demand whatever you want, I don't have to comply" and then release the shit anyways.

doesn't his administration have a pretty solid history of pulling this shit? i vaguely remember reading about them fighting tooth and nail to block the release of studies detailing the massive downsides to brexit.

Which seems like a questionable way to design your system.

Welcome to the right wing.

Its almost like everything is designed to benefit a small amount of fat rich crooks who are rich because they descended from slave owners and Lords.

Then fuck everyone else.

But all they have to do is point at foreigners, gay people, transgenders, homeless and and go "Those are the dudes ruining everything! Don't you love your country!"

And the population just caves and votes for them
