It was really great. I can't think of a better scene than the one where that kid, the mute son, is sitting with his father as they look at the deer. There are so many great lines to be remembered from this movie. I love Hunter McKay, too. He was so cool and I really admire his character. The ending is just great. I think it's the best ending to a movie.

I've watched so many movies, some I like a lot, and some are really boring. I watched The King of Comedy just recently. The movie was OK. It had a few funny scenes, but, ultimately, it was boring. However, I just saw an interesting movie a couple days ago. It's called A Simple Plan, starring Robert Duvall and Billy Bob Thornton. It's a pretty good movie. There are about six main characters, and none of them are boring. There is some really funny dialogue in the movie.

It seemed to come from another movie's main character, "The Big Man," which is supposed to mean something that's big and menacing. It's only when the subtitles are turned on that it becomes clear. I also thought it was kind of humorous that the American translation of "big man" is not "big man" but "big guy" ... because if I'd been paying attention I would have thought "big man" was the same thing.

I go back and forth on whether I like the wedding or not. One one hand, we get to know the characters and it makes the rest of the movie more meaningful, but on the other hand, it's just so fucking long.

One of my all time favorites

The wedding scene is one of my favorite Cinema moments. Streep is stunning.

That's famously the only movie DeNiro did actual acting instead of just playing himself with his weird squishy face and getting lauded for it nonetheless.

Bullet in the Head looks promising.

Rambo is also a Viet Nam movie that is good. Not really set in Nam tho.

Not exactly a happy movie, but sometimes we need movies like that. I need to rewatch it sometime. It's been a very long time since I've seen it.

I wouldn't say DeNiro was playing himself in Taxi Driver or The Godfather Part II either. Even when he does "play himself", he's still good and fits the movie most of the time.

this was literally the only time I have ever seen Christopher Walken act since we are on the subject. That scene in pulp fiction with him is b/c of this movie too (a reference I never got before).

On DeNiro: I also agree than his work as Vito Corleone was great, and seems like a real, unique character. The guy that plays Clemenza in the past kinda steals any scene he's in.

Non of these guys are as good as early Pacino imo. Tony Montana and Michael Corleone are totally different people, different mannerism, everything (even if they are both tough guys, it's like night and day).

I'm really at the bottom of the barrel, but you are right I could watch this. Is it okay? I like a lot of Mel Gibson movies tbh.

There is also Stripes for comedy. As well as Good Morning Viet-Nam, but GMVN seems boring. I saw it as a kid. Robin Williams annoys me.

The wedding is important to show the hopelessness theyre coming from. Theyre all looking at a life of a shit job (that will be moved overseas in a few years) and alcoholism to numb the pain of it all.

From what I've heard, De Niro wanted one live round put in the cylinder, but it was made sure that it would never be the round that actually fired.

Serious. Robert De Niro demanded the gun have live ammo "to increase tension"

Obviously the fatal shot wasn't real but it was there.

It does appear to be true, but it's not really the Russian Roulette scene, it's

the part where he puts the gun to Fredo Corleone's head

Yes it did. It literally says he even checked the gun compulsively to make sure it wasn't the next bullet in the barrel.
