Yeah, mobile games can get pretty predatory. I'm playing one now where there's a 4 day event ongoing, that gives rewards for summoning. The highest reward is for doing 1,200 summons. But considering that if you spend $99, you get enough for about 80 summons, that's about $1500... Part of me goes "do they really expect people to spend that much?" But the top person on this event leaderboard is already at 800 summons...

So yeah, I agree with Vicious_Dios, they are absolutely going to get people dropping thousands on Diablo Immortal.

I think someone estimated it would take close to 10 years to complete with the best gear as a f2p player.

Theres a difference between enjoying the game and having the best gear though. No one gets all perfect gear in a D3 season either because its basically statistically impossible. And in D2 it IS impossible unless youre botting 24/7

or at least there should be, but the lack of peoples self control is what drives these games in the first place

True but you could argue that the gear itself is content that you are gated from having. It's not like they are only cosmetic.

if someone started playing the original D2 back when it first came out and they wanted all the best gear in the game, even for one character, theyd probably still be looking for a Zod rune to this day

All saying it takes 10 years means is that the game has an estimated 10 years worth of content. The day-to-day gameplay of pretty much any f2p game is a slow grind. You're not expected to have everything day 1.

Have you actually played a f2p game? It's not that hard to imagine when you know how they work. The only thing that stops most games from lasting that long is players losing interest.

Problem here is no one really defined the microtransactions and are basing it of a potential 10 year grind for the best equipment sets which microtransactions or just a normal game sometimes RNG is just a bitch and you arent guaranteed those drops either way.

Nobody's defending them. It's just the simple fact that their existence doesn't automatically make the game unplayable for those who don't want to spend money. I can guarantee you that most people who regularly play gacha games hate the monetization with a passion.

Sometimes streamers pay out ridiculous amounts for dumb shit but the point is the content generates more money than you put in.

Correct, there aren't. It's actually a common complaint from the whales. Genshin is one of the most F2P friendly gachas around.
