BLT's are stupid good, and I'm not even a huge bacon guy. Something magical about the combination of toasted white bread and bacon. One of the best examples of a sandwich that's exponentially more than the sum of it's parts.

More seriously, I didn't care much for them either until I started making them like this, basically. In terms of bread, try buying Texas Toast instead of just some random bread. It toasts into the perfect base for a magnificent sandwich. And use real mayo instead of Miracle Whip or butter or something. Mmm.

Agree with most of this except for the toasted bread part. Also personally do dijonnaise instead of just plain mayo on both sides personally. Oh yeah, also brushing the tomato slice(s) with olive oil before seasoning adds a lot to it

Yeah it's an extremely bizarre delicacy that's redundant and silly. The people eating it probably thought so too. But they did it because it was either making a toast sandwich, or starving to death.
