Assuming the person lives someplace where summers are very hot and winters are very cold, and they have no place to stay, including shelters, etc.

I alarmed an equally unexpected homeless person while walking my dog this evening and got to wondering.

Temperatures can get deadly low at night.

as someone who lives in Anchorage Alaska and sees homeless people around sometimes.....

I really worry and wonder about them every winter. But like you said, I suppose it depends on the location. For sure in Alaska, winter is worse to be homeless. Our summers are not deadly I don't think. It usually doesn't get as hot as down south

Easier to cool down in summer homeless then it is to warm up in winter homeless.

In summer you can find shade, run through sprinklers, go to a public pool, etc.

If your really desperate even taking a dip in a nearby river/lake/pond etc

And night time is easier in summer. Almost always cool enough to live through the night...while in winter sleeping outside is often a death sentence.

Winter nights can kill you without some prep. Summer is annoying, but you are unlikely to die from heatstroke unless your location is just fucked for water resources.

I live in the South. I have seen people be okay one second and then mins later if go by the same spot there EMS trying to bring up back to life. When it is super hot out.

Winter 100%. NYC winters it frequently dips into the negatives at night and most homeless take refuge in the subway

The best place to be homeless is Hawaii.

You'd be much more likely to die from being forced outside in super-low temperatures than really high temperatures.

That said, most homeless people in the US are dying from drug use, not exposure.

Winter for sure. The homeless will often commit misdemeanors on purpose just to get inside jail. during the summer they will just find a shaded area. in vegas on skid row they are lined up in tents.
