finished season 1 of girl golf story thing. Enjoyable, very odd high stakes at times, the yuri bait is hilarious to me because the one totally in love is beyond precious and must be protected at all costs. 8/10 somehow. I almost said 7 but honestly it is just... really enjoyable and I glided through the season with no problems.

Now back to jobless reincarnation (on episode 12) and now we're just not missing at this point. The bad was really bad but now it seems we turned the corner to interesting stuff.

That the really impressive thing about Jobless is that once it takes it's turn it doesn't turn back, at least not in this first season.

Yeah, Birdie Wing was just such a consistently entertaining anime. I kept raising its score myself just from how enjoyable it was week-to-week. Really looking forward to S2

I rewatched the first season of Classroom of the Elite. This was never my favorite anime, but I really like the premise of classes competing for points and each class having all these strong personalities doing political intrigue stuff to get ahead. Ayanokoji is a great character too, he's a neat twist on the OP protagonist. I just wish CotE took itself a bit more seriously, I guess. The episode about preventing classmates from putting cameras in the girls locker room is just ugh. The whole stolen panties subplot in the middle of an otherwise neat arc was awful.

I rewatched this so I could start S2, but seeing this again actually convinced me to wait until S2 is over and then binge it all at once. Individual episodes weren't all that satisfying, I want to see the big plays come together all at once.

Yes. Elite has a great premise, but much like Shadows House, it does a lot of stupid shit when it really shouldn't have to.

Season finale of Jobless Reincarnation is incredibly strong, jesus.

The Demon Girl Next Door S2 - Hell yeah what a great S2. Every episode had fun stuff going on, the pace is a mile a minute so there's tons of laughs, and the characters get closer than ever. I wasn't a huge fan of the two new additions to the main cast, but they had some pretty funny scenes, so they weren't a total loss. Shamiko and Momo both so great.

Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost - Finally a bad show! This was cute at times with the loli ghosts, but the MC sucks. Everything to do with the workplace in this series is awful, and then at the end we get the revelation that her pay is shit despite her working 18 hours a day. Ugh. Without that, the show would've been solid, though maybe still not great - it could be pretty slow at times.

Birdie Wing - Hell yeah what a great S1. Eve and Aoi are awesome whenever they're together, and the villains were generally enjoyable too. I love that their mentors are just Amuro and Char - the Namco Bandai promotion in here is generally hilarious. The golf is consistently entertaining, too. The only low point is the stuff with Eve's 'family' - her situation just isn't very interesting to me compared to the golf stuff. Thankfully that's dealt with partway through the season, and the rest is all good. Shame it just ends in the middle of things, though. Guess there must've been production difficulties or delays for some reason.

And they're unfinished, but I might as well finish this all up now.

Komi Can't Communicate S2 - Basically like S1 but maybe a little more consistent... I ended up liking it about the same though, since the premise kinda gets old over time. Still not nearly as good as Hitori Bocchi. Carried by fantastic visuals and directing.

Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie - Shoulda dropped this shit early. Starts bad and stays bad. Izumi is a garbage-tier protagonist with nothing interesting about him, and sadly, Shikimori is just a cutie 90% of the time. Their 'relationship' barely has anything going on, too. Fie on everyone who hyped this up.

And yeah, Spring was a solid season. I dodged your bottom two and only had one show I disliked myself. Summer is looking kind of dire in comparison, at least for me

Honestly if S2 hadn't been announced like right when I finished watching I would have already been a few volumes into the LN.

Really leaves you wanting for more in the best way.

I only finished Demon Girl and Kongming, but I left several pretty good shows on the wayside I wouldn't mind going back to. And I guess I can try to watch Birdie Wing before season 2 as well. The only show in summer I'm definitely going to watch is Call of the Night, so I have plenty of time for other anime.

Can't get enough of Demon Girl Next Door though. It's a shame that the anime ended on one of the weaker volume climaxes; if they did an S3 the content in the next two volumes would be something to behold.

I have a bunch to catch up on too, but my current project is trying to rewatch most of my top 100. I'm about halfway through!

I should make a top 100 anime list after my waifu project sometime this century.

reading Grand Blue in order to see what's up with this Chisa character that someone nominated for my project!

Although 3 chapters in and I hate the main character so lol

I really didn't like the Grand Blue anime, but everyone else here loved it so I thought I was crazy. Everyone was insufferable, not just main dude

I read two volumes of the Grand Blue manga and hated it. The characters suck, yes (particularly every male character). As does the comedy.

Naw man that show was miserable.

There was like one person here who swore it was one of the greatest series ever created and talked about it a ton, probably what you're thinking of. Most people thought it was bad though.

It has a high rating on MAL too, 8.43 and #149 overall. I guess it must be one of those shows people either love or hate

I dropped it after chapter 4 and skipping around to see they still did stupid things every chapter I checked.

I'm still rewatching stuff. Decided to only post every few days so I don't clutter the topic.

Better than I remembered: Etotama is great. Nya-tan is hilarious, the CGI action works surprisingly well, and I love all the humor that breaks the fourth wall. This is a one cour anime that had a recap episode but they were so self-aware about it that I didn't even mind. I suspect they had the recap episode purely for the jokes! There's a lot of fanservice in this but it's always part of a gag, plus the way the main dude always no-sells it was funny to me. Etotama has the perfect example of how a generic main dude should be, he's just there to play off the zany personalities of the zodiac girls.

As good as I remembered: Sound of the Sky is great. I love how it hints at the supernatural. The bit in the first episode when Kanata sees the gigantic winged fossil sets the tone perfectly. I also love how this anime nails everything it sets out to do, whether it's serious moments or goofy slice-of-life.

Slightly worse than I remembered: Hitoribocchi is still good, but it didn't work as well as a binge. Hitori is fun, she's always making amazing facial expressions and trying her best. I like Nako and Aru a lot too. I'd never realized how repetitive ninja girl was, though. She spent multiple episodes in a row agonizing over the same thing. She even reached the same conclusion more than once and just forgot by the next episode, it was super weird. Hitori's old friend Kai is still the absolute worst, too. Luckily Hitori, Nako, and Aru were there to hold up the anime. I thought this was a way better shy girl anime than Komi, but now I'm not so sure.

Now that Im further into the arc, Im loving Pudding

Started up Fire Force/Enen no Shouboutai just now. I'm digging it from the premise alone "Super powered firefighters fighting fire beings with MOSTLY more fire...). Played mostly straight and heavy, with just nice enough dash of comedy.

Promare > Fire Force

Fire Force has some pacing issues but I think it's still pretty good. Soul Eater was his better series, though, no doubt.

holo is a 9/10 character stuck in a 5/10 anime tbh

So Im loving Sanjis wedding.. but of course we have to take a break in the action to see another characters (assuredly tragic) backstory

Someday Oda is going to give someone a happy backstory and we will spend the entire time waiting for something horrible to happen.

Teppen is cancelling its second episode because apparently the plot dealt with an assassination, oof. Article below doesn't say that's why but I read it in the anime board. This is like when Fire Force went on hiatus after the KyoAni fire, though I guess FF eventually resumed. Hopefully Teppen airs the episode at some point too. Teppen wasn't amazing already, losing what should've been the second episode isn't going to help.

I watched first episodes of two more shows

The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting wasn't bad, but it has a long way to go to stand up to other shows like it (I'd classify it alongside Uzamaid or Wataten, where someone who probably shouldn't be near children is looking after one). Yakuza felt too wholesome right from the start, why even make him a Yakuza if he's going to be such a good dude. None of the comedy really landed for me either but, eh, I'll stick with it.

Prima Doll, meanwhile, was really good. I'm loving the worldbuilding they're doing with the automations and flashbacks to the war. Main robot girl was cute, and it already had one heartfelt plot. I always love it when slice-of-life has a twist in the premise that grants it depth, and former robot soldiers trying to find a purpose in peacetime is great. This is really close to Lycoris Recoil for my favorite of the season so far.

Prima Doll is the new Key show, so I assume it'll get somewhat dramatic and sad.

It kind of did already in the first episode. If it stays at or near that level of sad I'll enjoy it a lot. Hopefully it doesn't go fully miserable though

Watched the first Biscuit Hammer episode and this is such dissapointing bullshit. Looks like absolute garbage and the pacing and directing is atrocious. What a disaster of an adaptation.
