The Mario in the Donkey Kong arcade games is the father of current Mario and Luigi. Also, the current Mario and Luigi had an ancestor named Jumpman who went to the Mushroom Kingdom and got married to a member of the royal family. They are his descendants so that means both have Mushroom Kingdom ancestry.

Where did you get this from because I have never heard of any of this?

Yeah this.

Jumpman was just Mario's old name.

"Mario Bros." Comes from when Mario Bros was released in Japan the official names were Red Mario and Green Mario. Luigi was floated as a name by NOA just like Mario.

IMO Zelda is better if you treat it as a modern legend.

Well depending on who you ask.....

1. He was shot in the heel and died instantly.
2. He was shot in the heel by a poison arrow and died from poison.
3. He was shot in the heel and fell to his death.
4. He was shot in the heel, fell and survived, and was immediately surrounded and stabbed in the face / chest over and over again.

The only commonality here being shot in the heel.

Yeah I've never heard of all of that either. I do know the DK from those games is Cranky Kong while DK Jr. is the DK that's been present ever since, but that's the only lore bit I've heard of in regards to the OG DK game.

That was rare's story which was later retconned by Nintendo and Cranky Kong is just some old dude, Donkey Kong is donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr is just MIA since super Mario kart.

IIRC Mario did have a timeline up until the early 2000s, but they retconned it by introducing Pauline to the modern games. WW (and its sequels) and TP are clearly sequels to OoT's adult and child endings. MM is a direct sequel to OoT. The downfall timeline took some retcons to fit overall but the games reference one or another for the most part. BotW makes clear references to OoT and SS.

The idea that the timeline is something they made up out of nowhere is just nonsense

BotW basically references every mainline game.
