It's on AMC+, which is a huge strike against it (you can watch the first episode for free on Prime). Followed closely by the fact that it is slow-paced and utterly original. The idea is that in the future humanity creates a colony on the Moon to research solutions to Earth's problems. The core of the colony is an ultra-advanced artificial intelligence called IO, which manages and defends the colony while learning from direct observation of the humans there. It's not made particularly clear how much of the technology and culture that originates on the Moon is from IO and how much is from the colonists, because the AI itself doesn't directly communicate in the show except for when the two characters who bear the command keys come together to authorize the sending of the first wave of Moon residents back to Earth, to help show us how a better way of living as well as establishing a foothold for their technology (from the dialog, it seems like IO will clean and heal the Earth through the technology it sends with humans while remaining itself safe inside of the Moon).

The humans on the Moon live very differently than modern humans, and there is disagreement about whether or not humans can be saved, whether the citizens of the Moon can be corrupted, who should control IO and the advanced technology, and so on. It's very much social science fiction versus technological science fiction, at least as of the first season. Personally, I think IO exceeded any limits placed on it long ago, and that it may have already decided on a way of "saving" humanity that is quite different from anything any faction we see in the show has in mind. I feel that if any faction gains control of both keys, they'll end up having a very unfortunate "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that" moment.

I think it's just fascinating to see an utterly original fictional culture with their own ideas, their own way of speaking. The idea of creating an isolated colony to work on brand new ideas of what the human race might be was pretty unique I thought. Again, you can watch the first episode on Prime if you are interested.

I feel sorry for the earth's population, 'cause so few live in the U.S.A. At least the foreigners can copy our morality, they can visit but they cannot stay.
