These types of situations are when Netflix is actually acceptable, something that's already been fully out but hasn't been on streaming yet.

The only thing that's ever held me back from watching Monster is that all the IRL people that ever told me to watch it were just the absolute worst most annoying people I've ever personally known, lol. Same reason I still haven't watched Gankutsuo.

It's been like 15 years since high school so really shouldn't let that hold me back.

I enjoyed it and it's certainly very well written but it's not one of my favorites.

Definitely one I am happy to recommend to people though.

It's my favorite anime, but actually not my favorite Naoki Urasawa work (20th Century Boys is even better imo)

Do you have to be logged in to Netflix to see something? I don't currently have a Netflix account but when I click on the link I just get a "page does not exist" message.

I also ask because Monster has in some capacity been a Netflix property for a long time now and was never put on their streaming service. (I think there was some complicated licensing issue that I don't know the details of)

Yeah Im not sure; I see the same thing when I click through but I also dont have Netflix atm. There were articles earlier this fall saying that Netflix had gotten the distribution rights (alongside some other anime like HxH) but this was the first I saw of a release date.

It actually was on their steaming service years ago. Like a decade ago, or else I'm having a real Mandela effect moment cause that's where I remember watching some of it (didn't finish).

This might be right. I looked into it at one point semi-recently and came to the conclusion that it was available legally in some capacity in the US for a small window of time but no longer. (What exact form that was I've forgotten...)

Maybe it was a Baccano situation, where for a while there Baccano was "on Netflix", by which they meant "if you are still paying for the option to have DVD rentals shipped to you in the mail."

Case Study of Vanitas finished, and good lord. If not for SpyxFamily, it'd be the best thing I've watched all year. I need another season like now.

Onto RWBY: Ice Queendom. This is going to feel like a fever dream, hearing the same actresses do the same stuff a decade later, only to splinter off into a new timeline. But hey, Vol. 9 isn't out yet. I need my RWBY fix.

Vanitas humor started to annoy me, and I kinda hated the Jeanne x Vanitas relationship. I ended up dropping the show at the end of season 1.

Ice Queendom....was disappointing.

The 2 month countdown for Berserk was just to announce the new bluray release for the TV cut of Golden Age.

Man, as of episode ten, The Witch from Mercury is steadily turning into one of the most aimless and terrible anime I've ever seen. Most of the characters are awful, and the ones who aren't are neutral at best. There isn't a single good character. I had high hopes for Suletta and Miorine early on, but Suletta is just constantly annoying with no sign of ever improving and Miorine is the worst. The story is all over the place, and I honestly can't imagine it going anywhere interesting in the next few episodes that would make me excited for the second season.

I still plan to watch at least one more Gundam series someday, since my understanding is that they're all standalone, but this one hasn't been a great introduction.

*shrugs* The story has always been about the corporate politics, it's just that the main character, while directly having an influence, only does so inadvertently. While I also find Suletta pretty annoying, I did feel bad for her this episode, but Miorine went from "this marriage arrangement is just one of convenience. I don't really like you that...baka" tsundere to mask off not giving a shit about Suletta. I was hoping they'd be closer by now, and I'm sure the show will just have Miorine not realize she was being a jerk and have her apologize for being inconsiderate of Suletta's feelings, but it is disappointing right now.

They're not. Everything that takes place in Universal Century (UC) is connected to the original 1979 series

Sorry Roba, but just not able to agree. Me and several friends are watching GWitch and all really loving it.

I decided to rewatch Stars Align. I liked it initially and liked it even more on a rewatch. That said, I still find the drama to be copious and heavy-handed, and the fact that it abruptly ends in the middle hurts it.

Now I will get ready for Winter '23 with D4DJ

I'm in complete agreement here. Through 10 episodes we've learned nothing else about the world other than what happened in the prologue (episode 0). I thought the prologue was going to set up the entire mood of the show but apparently everything that happened in it doesn't matter.

• Gundams kill their pilots
• Gundams banned
• Gundam engineers are killed
• Funnels/Bits/Drones technology are banned

All of these are ignored in the show. We don't know anything more than surface level characterization for any of the characters. Nothing outside of the school seems to matter. Benerit Group turns out to not be a government body so their ban on Gundams don't mean shit. We get "political intrigue" but it's mostly "school intrigue" because we don't know Earth-Mercury-Colony relationship.

I think I'm gonna finally read my mobile suit Gundam origin manga

I finished RWBY: Ice Queendom. It was...fine, I suppose. The action scenes and new take on the older material was good enough. It was also nice seeing practically every RT actor reprising their roles, so it didn't have this weird "but no" stigma for being a different show. I don't think the new story arc came across very well though. Rather than threatening and intense, it came off kinda goofy and lacking cohesion. It didn't help it was about 3-4 episodes of material stretched out to 8. I hate when shows have to go long when they don't have the meat for it. Quotas I suppose. It scratched the itch of not having Volume 9 this year, but not much else.

Onto something else now. Maybe I'll dive back into re-watch territory for a few shows.

It's so wierd, because I feel like the current anime content and the current manga content are primed to be highlight hype points for the series in terms of generating word of mouth, but the HeroAca zeitgeist has never been weaker.

I haven't checked the series out in a while now but the content starting from chapter 307 (this is ahead of where the anime is) has basically destroyed any interest I had in reading the manga or watching the anime

I don't think anything after the current anime arc is particularly great.

Having not read the manga, (and not watching the current season yet) My Hero basically treaded water for 3 straight seasons, doing tournament arcs at a snails pace, and every time they advance the main plot, it HAS it give you every single character (including the bad guys) POV for some reason.

The dissection of when and where MHA went wrong will continue for a long time. It didn't just do one thing poorly or incorrectly, but it seems like everyone feels like this wasn't what the series was supposed to be.

Regardless of how people feel about the joint training arc I think the real problem is they didn't kill off All Miight when they had the chance in season 3

There was definitely a long stretch of mind numbingly boring stretches of MHA but last season's arc with the Villains through now has been amazing. It got me to catch up to the manga and I'm hyped to see it animated.

Haven't read the LN, but I do like the manga. I guess this looks....fine?

It feels like there's a different villainess anime every season now. I should check one out someday, see if they're any good

This has definitely not changed with the current manga arc.

The thing that bugs me about the anime they do it almost every single episode is every time a character shows up for the 1st time that episode they have to have text on the screen reminding you what their quirk is like I somehow forgot

The yuri community is extremely high on I'm in Love With the Villainess for what that's worth. Probably moreso than anything since Bloom Into You.

I haven't read it but I'll 100% be watching the anime.

The main girl design of that yuri villainess anime is cute, but her love interest is not good looking at all
