No, too late. You showed your hand. Annual shrinkage rates across the retail industry is around 1.4%. Meanwhile these exact same corporations are raking in BILLIONS by stealing up to a quarter of their lowest paid employees' annual income.

If you cared about "principles" this topic would be about wage theft, with shoplifting as the secondary "that's bad too". You don't actually give a shit about principles though, you just care about pretending you're superior to others and virtue signaling over petty theft is the only thing you have to make yourself not look completely worthless.

Tbh I totally ate the food Walmart deli would throw away at the end of the night. If you worked in the back and realized how much gets thrown away because a box is open or crushed. And you're minimum wage hungry as fuck, i totally get it. But not everyone is gonna be ok with literally throwing away edible food. It's why you see homeless grabbing bread out of dumpsters.

Well it should be a universally accepted idea that stealing is wrong but here we are.

Except on the first page I posted a link about walgreens having to shut down in SF due to Shoplifters creating a pharmacy desert in the area.

How can anybody with any actual values say with a straight face well its wrong when somebody steals this but it's right when somebody steals that? There's a reason people with these kind of viewpoints aren't in actual charge of anything and I thank God everyday for it.

It means that location isn't AS profitable as the rest without investing money back into it. Shit, a corporation raking in as much money as Walgreens? They really don't even NEED a given location to be profitable. They COULD, god forbid, eat a minor loss and say "Out of our 4 billion dollar annual profits, we are still making 3.99 billion a year if we keep running this store that costs us 100,000 a year. And it'd be the right thing to do since we're the only pharmacy in town."

Bottom line is stealing is wrong in both cases. At least that went to court. When somebody shoplifts either nothing happens to them or like another poster mentioned who steals they get the opportunity to do it again and again. How do you equate with one theft being justified and one not?

- Fresh food not sold by the end of the day? Trash.
-Food slightly past date? Trash.
-Slightly damaged packaging? Trash.
-Cold food a customer left out or put in the freezer? Trash.

You get caught eating it or taking it home? Fired.
They just dont care because their suppliers will reimburse them for lost goods.

Government should mandate that all food should at least be given to the less fortunate or poor, with immunities from lawsuits.
