Nah, it's pretty unique to ours. My mom loved The Smurfs when she was younger. She doesn't give a shit about them now. Past generations were used to letting go of these things as they got older. Ours held on to them longer and even still hold on to them. I think the internet helped with that a lot.

Yes, there was curiosity around this series and people didn't want to judge it without giving it a chance first.

But it's clearly going to fall off a cliff when they release the next group of episodes. They even timed it so everyone can watch Last of Us instead.

Eh being nostalgic that things were better when they were kids is pretty normal for every generation yeah.

But overall the whole attitude of "How dare they do this to this kids cartoon/movie I liked as a kid?!" is pretty unique to our generation I'd say. It's especially a bit laughable for something like Scooby-Doo which has been used to shill products and lazy TV shows for half a century.

On top of that when most us here were kids/teens they already released a live action movie that basically shit on the concept of the original show anyway.

Adult depictions of Scooby-Doo is something that been toyed with for decades now. Even the live action movie from 2002 was originally going to be for adults before WB chickened out.

I think if this was announced I'd just be like "Well waste of their money, I doubt it will be successful" and move on with my life.

That sounds like they redid Scooby-Doo movies again only with people that are less likely to be heard of

Just watched the first two episodes. Velma is definitely a Mindy self insert which I usually like, but usually she's surrounded by characters that are somewhat normal. I don't like it in this situation where everyone is a zany shitbag character except for Shaggy who is either sad or boring in every scene. Velma has normal Mindy reference banter constantly but every other character is also constantly cracking worse jokes so it doesn't fit well.

Idgaf about the IP, so I'm finding it pretty meh instead of being a weirdo thats upset that it even exists. I probably won't continue to watch it

Scooby Doo has been releasing new series constantly. Most of them are really shitty. Why is this one special, in terms of public attention?

Also, really important to note that people that ree over race swapping almost never criticize shows explicitly due to it. Look at that LOTR show, after the initial deluge of racist scree complaining about the show got sidelined, what did people talk about? The lore, the production values, etc. People will find reasons to criticize something the don't like.
