Just wondering if new gfx cards have come down in price so I don't get scalped. My 1070 does well enough for the most part but, always worth future proofing and chucking the 1070 into my old machine to bring it back to life.

My PC's a couple of years old, but running an i7-7700 CPU (which I think is still pretty decent?).

Thoughts appreciated, I have a 3080 in a laptop which is decent but it's a laptop and not a full fat gaming PC.

LapTop 3080 isn't the same as a DeskTop 3080

It's quite a bit underpowered in comparison to the DeskTop unit.

But if your gaming is "Satisfactory", then keep on waiting.

There's always something better around the corner.

If you aren't satisfied with what you're getting, only then, should you upgrade.

I'm still on a 970. Granted, I'm playing on 1600x900 resolution, but if it works, it works. I've come to realize that better graphics aren't going to turn a bad game into a good one, so I'm still using what I have.

It's not bad, you should get a combination of medium and high on 1080p with good framerate, probably not faring so well at 1440p if that's your monitor though. And if you don't play too demanding games, you're fine.

The CPU is ancient, however. CPU tech in the last 2-3 years especially has gotten quite good.
