They have no desire to cover this game. They have said multiple times, and actually has the strength of principle to follow through on it.

Small Twitter trying their best to make excuses.

I mean it wasn't just IGN who got a code, most of the major review places had their reviews out yesterday/the day before or whatever.

The ign review of this game is absolutely hilarious. Spends the entire review taking about major issues and flaws with it then turns around and gives a 9/10.

That was my takeaway too. Like the tone of the review was "this is pretty good but janky and a little underwhelming, let's give it a near perfect score".

Anyway I don't much care for all the nonsense. Just gonna see what independent reviewers say after actually playing it.

It's not that they got the bad out of the way first, it's that they seemed to heavily gloss over some big problems

Not a myth just not nearly as common as people think

Tbh, I've also seen independent reviewers I trust say they played the game and liked it, even not being fans of the property.

Not sure how true this actually is

I never trust professional reviews because theyre mostly all biased. The player reviews (not from streamers) are the way to go.

I mean yeah my main source of reviews on this are independents on YT or whatever, who are saying pretty positive things about the game across the board.

Unless WB got to all of them lol

Is it really news that a Youtuber is upset they didnt get a free game. There are literally walkthroughs of the game on Youtube so you dont have to even care about those review Youtubers when you get unfiltered gameplay.

My dude, first of all I can't iterate enough how much I do not have strong feelings about this. I'll probably pick it up if it's good, if it's not I won't. I know it's fun to think about people losing their minds over a harry potter game but if you ask me, those people need to touch grass.

What I'm saying though is that the overall tone and the amount of criticisms he levelled at the game didn't suggest a 9 out of 10 to me. I was expecting a charitable 8 based on his commentary, but probably more of a 7 if we're being honest.

it didn't look special to me when i watched 3 hours of footage last night. i was expecting it to be a school sim but it's not. it's similar to the harry potter chamber of secrets game for the ps2/gc/xbox but with improved graphics, more spells, and a much larger map.

Reviews have always been "it's a mess but 9/10 anyway, so we get more free games from [huge publisher]" - or at least since free review copies became a thing.

I love how they say ign spends the entire review talking about major flaws and gives it a 9/10, as if that is anything new for ign.

Skyrim had some major flaws and yet everybody still think it deserved those high scores.
