Nominate the Roommates Game.

This is the best thing Friends has ever done, bar none. I love everything about it, from the unexpected answers to the amazing climax of nobody (except apparently Ross, the one who actually knows everyone best) knowing what Chandler's job is. I could easily correctly answer every question off the top of my head. This is one of the rare moments in the show with big (non-romantic) stakes attached, even if the apartment switch is short-lived.

Richard!

Richard is probably the best guest star character in the show, and not just because Tom Selleck is really cool (although he is). He's one of the rare non-main characters whose impact is felt throughout most of the run of the show. He's Monica's first major love interest on the show, and even after Chandler and Monica get together, his influence hangs over their relationship until their engagement. Perhaps my favorite Richard moment doesn't even involve Monica. In the episode where Phoebe watches the true endings to movies her mom wouldn't let her see, she gets angry that the guy in Pride of the Yankees died of Lou Gehrig's Disease at the end. Richard's response is perfect: "The guy was Lou Gehrig. Didn't you kinda see it coming?"

The fact that Joey doesnt share food

JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD! I'm actually with him on this one. Perhaps it's an only child thing in my case, but I never liked sharing food with others. I especially hated it when someone would just snatch something off of my plate without asking (and unlike Joey, I would never do it to anyone else). I've (reluctantly) learned to share food with my wife, but she does at least ask first because she knows it's a pet peeve of mine to take without asking.

Monica and Ross' hand gesture

I think this is one of those things (like the unagi gesture) that you've probably done at least once if you're a Friends fan. It's a clever way to sneak something past the censors because they establish that it carries the same meaning as flipping someone the bird. I also love when they would randomly drop it into an episode without any explanation after its initial introduction. It was like an "If you know, you know" Easter Egg for the hardcore fans.

Perhaps one of Joey's greatest "dumb" moments because, like Rachel said, the way he explains it sorta makes sense. Who actually cares about a cow's opinion, after all? Plus, even though he doesn't quite use the right word, he still manages to use the term correctly, and he's so confident he's got it right. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on it. It is truly moo.

Ross trying to kiss his cousin

Doo doo doo doo doooooooooooooo. I mean, if my cousin was Denise Richards, I might be attracted to her, too...! Seriously though, the prolonged awkward silence after she asks him what he's doing is so great, compounded by Ross's inner monologue begging him just to say anything at all to end the silence. Then the, "Yeah, you probably shouldn't have said anything" after his answer somehow made things worse was a great way to cap the scene.

Carol

I think Carol is the only character in the show who got recast, even if her original actress only shows up in the pilot. I'm honestly not sure what to think of Carol. She's...fine, I guess? I can't really think of any standout moments for her as a character, one way or the other. It was an interesting decision (especially for the time the show aired) to basically open up the entire series with Ross explaining that his wife left him because she realized she was actually a lesbian. She slowly became less relevant as Ben grew older to the point she doesn't even appear in the last few seasons of the show.

It's still kind of weird to see Cole Sprouse in stuff that isn't Friends because I can't look at him without thinking he's Ben. It was kind of cool to see him grow up over the course of the show (until, like Carol, he's completely jettisoned from the series over the last few seasons. They even do a gag about it when Jack Geller calls Emma his first grandchild, having completely forgotten about Ben). I think my favorite Ben moment is when Rachel accidentally teaches him bad words and then tries to teach him some pranks to get him to stop saying them. Ross getting her back at the end by throwing the dummy down the stairs is excellent because Jennifer Aniston's reaction is genuine since they didn't tell her it was going to happen.

Carol's first actor actually only shows up in the second episode, she's only mentioned in the pilot. I remember this because it'd have made more sense to me if it was the pilot and not episode 2 just to get recast so shortly afterwards.

Oh right, I always forget it's the second episode, not the first.

This is such an odd omission by the series. I remember there's a line during Rachel's pregnancy when she asks Ross (I forget the exact context), "How serious are you about keeping Ben in your life?" He replies with, "My son? Pretty serious," and Ben never shows up again after that. In fact, he's rarely even mentioned. I'd almost believe the irony was unintentional if there wasn't a moment right after Emma was born when Jack Geller celebrates the birth of his first grandchild, only to be reminded that Ben exists.

Man, every interaction with Eddie in this episode is delightfully uncomfortable as Chandler realizes just how unhinged he is. He accuses Chandler of sleeping with his ex-girlfriend and killing his fish, to boot. Then Eddie gets a new fish, and he scoops it out of the tank and puts it into his pocket when he leaves the apartment to prevent Chandler from killing that one, too. Finally, he puts a goldfish cracker into the tank, and you understand that Eddie has well and truly lost it. What an arc.

Monica saying "I know!"

I like how all the characters have over the top catchphrases (except Chandler, for some reason, although they make fun of his "Could I be [insert rest of sentence here]?" thing more than he actually says it himself, so it's kinda weird). Monica has this one, Rachel has "Noooooooooooo," Phoebe has, "Oh no," Ross has his super depressed, "Hi," and Joey has, "How you doin'?" They all have unique cadences for how they say them, too, which makes them super memorable. Monica's is pretty good, and she probably uses it more than any of the other Friends use theirs (maybe Phoebe says hers more), which makes it stand out.

It's a weird crutch some shows use (or used to, not sure how much it still happens) to introduce an animal early on to try to garner interest so they don't get canceled. For Friends, there was Marcel, an exotic monkey, who is featured prominently during his brief time on the show before getting sent to the San Diego Zoo and ultimately starring in the sequel to Outbreak. Monkeys are usually funny animals, so I get the appeal, but I'm glad he didn't stick around for long. David Schwimmer famously hated working with the monkey, so it makes me wonder if he was the one who came up with the line in a later season (which I think is the only reference to Marcel after his final appearance), "Remember when I had a monkey? What was I thinking?"
