Deluxe Edition comes with a treasure map for the entire game. For whatever reason I thought that was just, like, a full game treasure map. Turns out it's treasure that only shows up if you HAVE the Expanded Treasure Map.

Oh. I had no idea there was a bonus paid treasure map.

That seems... weird? So basically if you paid more $ you actually get more money in-game...? Which would make the game easier.

Capcom is still Capcom and will happily allow you to pay to win.

Yep, I didn't even know it was in there until I got it actually. I just bought it for the guns (which I haven't even used yet) and the Scene Girl Ashley outfit.

I got deluxe as a gift from my sister for my birthday and had no idea until now the treasure map was for the game.

Honestly I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference. I finished my hardcore playthrough with so much money I didn't know what to do with it. I wasn't even an SMG user for 80% of the game but I fully upgraded the LE5 + exclusive because I had nothing else to spend it on other than unnecessary ammo caps or reload speeds. I laughed when I saw my SMG achievement is at "killed 9/10 enemies with an SMG", great value for full upgrade lol.

More money would basically... allow me to have taken the body armour earlier and constantly repair it I guess. Would make the game a lot more forgiving. Though I could've done that anyway.

Most of the expanded treasures are more gemstones from what I remember with the occasional token for the figurine slots.

Yeah I ended up with way more gems than slots too.

the best ive gotten so far is ashley's charm...50% green herbs. Lol it works for me because I get hit a lot

I havent gotten to island yet but tmp gallery was the hardest for me so far. I gave up on trying to get all the skulls

this was my leftover gems sold to the second-to-last merchant. so, yeah.

I think the rare charms I've gotten have been:
Chicken: Double healing from eggs
Cute Bear: Consume 1 less gunpowder for crafting
Merchant: 5% off weapon upgrades

I like the little things this game does, like the throwaway line about the missing hikers. And the quick movie of one of them getting sacrificed in the beginning. But then being able to find both of them as you progress.

Makes the world feel bigger than it is.

So I started up a second playthrough on MG+ on professional and it was great, just blasted dudes left and right having a lovely time

then I realized I need to start a totally a new file on professional to unlock a gun, so Ive done that

and wow going back to the unupgraded default pistol feels like shit! random dudes taking like five headshots to go down.

I'm about to start NG+ professional, will probably due a raw professional someday just not anytime soon. Need to make sure I can clarify what it means by no special weapons, I would hope that just means no DLC weapons? Guess it might also mean don't buy a rocket launcher.

Its no bonus weapons, which probably means DLC, but definitely means the stuff you can unlock with completion points.

Wait no, I have a definitive answer from Reddit: Deluxe edition weapons are allowed.

Also you can sell any bonus weapons youve unlocked for extra cash and it doesnt count against you.

Can you earn challenges and achievements on NG+? Like, can I get the "under 8 hours" or "knife and handgun only" challenges there, or do they need a brand new file?

i actually started a second playthrough on standard, new file. i wanted to break myself out of my habit of saving a million times and reloading every time i get hit or waste a bullet so i'm forcing myself to just play and keep going and trust that the adaptive resources will keep me going even if i use 5 herbs and miss 10 shots every room

I could be wrong but the only thing you can't do on a NG+ run is get an S+.

Just wrapped up the castle I think the Salazar fight is greatly improved upon the original

I dunno if it's because it's mostly unrecognisable or in a different order to the original, but the castle seems to be going by really quickly for me. I've just reached the second shooting range.

I thought the castle felt longer but I'm also used to going through the original castle at a breakneck pace.

I didn't save after doing that gauntlet for the eagle plaque and then died to Mr Chainsaw due to a bear trap, so my Professional run is going to be on hiatus for a while.

i'm assuming you learned by now that the answer is no

but it seems pretty worth it to get it no matter what. with the discount, selling it back for 50% of its ordinary cost (i think that's how this works?) will get you back most of the money. you'd still end up spending 10k or so but that's 10k for 6 magnum bullets which is pretty worth. plus it comes with the ammo recipe which is otherwise, what, 6k, i don't remember?

Stuck in my Professional playthrough with the lake boss.

There's a mechanic I must be misunderstanding because I do not know how to dodge when he jumps into the air directly at the boat, and it does not appear to be possible to just out damage him before he does that 3 times and kills you. 6 attempts so far.

I've tried, it doesn't seem to do anything. I've even tried holding left or right before it even happens just to make sure I'm not just too late on the pull.

When i think it's coming i usually just hold down right and it always dodges. There's probably something unfair about pro mode though.

I had some trouble with it yesterday too. Its hard to tell which direction youre meant to move in.

its definitely possible though, I beat it. I guess just hold the same direction every time and hope you luck into surviving?

Incredibly, it would seem the issue was that I had to dodge right instead of left, and apparently I hadn't actually tried right.

I've got the 3 stars on both shooting ranges so far. Most of the challenge is just learning the pattern.

I just realized they killed off the biggest character of the RE Engine games.
