In a sea of white bois and all of a sudden its not a gun problem but a trans problem.

Idk who is worse the politicians and grifters that have the balls to make this statement believing the base will eat it up or the base that proceeds to eat it up.

it seems like there was a positive trend of news outlets not saying the name or really giving many details about the shooters because they didnt want to give them notoriety

with this shooting though it seems like every outlet is going out of there way to say the shooters name and say that they were trans

Haven't they been doing that for the last few Mass Shootings? Like the Buffalo one, the Movie Theater and Chruch?

ImO I think the only reason they (the Media) is making a big deal outta of it b/c we haven't had any (or very very few) Mass Shooters that identified as 'Trans/Non-Binary' until recently (the School and the Colorado Club]

You're giving them too much credit. Tucker Carlson used this shooting to go on a rant about how trans people are the enemies of Christianity.

Who cares what group they are a part of? They are fucked up individuals (like any mass shooter) that don't represent any group they are a part of. Are straight white males as a whole bad? Because they make up most of the mass shooters

well, statistically they are definitely worse, as you said, 'because they make up most of the mass shooters'. obviously it's still a massive statistical minority of white men, but still, that's why people around 10-15 years ago started talking about 'toxic masculinity' and teaching men to express themselves. the majority of us have dealt with unhinged dudes in our lives. I've worked with guys that are fucked in the head and refuse to get help, and carry a lot of classically masuline toxic traits. this all ties into a lack of mental health support in the US. well, and far too easy access to firearms.

I just keep finding it increasingly bizarre that gun fanatics aren't interested in mandatory training, regular screening and background checks. They'll cite Switzerland as a nation with a high rate of civilian gun ownership, but then Switzerland...has all the things I previously mentioned. It won't stop all shootings in the USA, that's for sure...but it'll definitely help limit a lot of them...

Indeed. There's no reason a country can't be safe with as many guns as the US has (though even compared to other countries with high gun ownership rates, the US has a ridiculous number of guns), that's just something that requires a massive cultural shift to favour safety, mental health, and community dynamics over myopic cries for individualism and freedom with no regard for the consequences. The NRA (funded extensively by arms manufacturers who love what this sort of propaganda does for gun sales) has whipped the fanatics into believing that any attempt to restrict gun ownership in any way is tantamount to enslaving them, and that's kind of a problem.

They're not wrong to say that guns are not inherently the problem. On their own, guns are fine. The problem is mentally ill or otherwise unsuitable people having guns, and where it's never going to be possible to remove all of the mentally ill or otherwise unsuitable people, that means something needs to be done to restrict their ability to get guns.
