They stink, they're stupid, they're messy, and they are only really interested in you for food.

Cats are worse.

Animals belong outdoors.

Many domesticated dogs certainly do not belong outdoors because they weren't bred to be wild.

It seems cruel that we have created so many breeds that cannot survive without us, and that often suffer to survive with us.

We should stop doing that and stop making more of those dogs and also stop having animals in our houses.

You actually have a good point. I love dogs and have a dog of my own that I rescued from a shelter. Grew up with dogs and have adopted them all from shelters. But the sad reality is that people continue to breed them and/or don't get them spayed/neutered. Then a lot of those dogs get abandoned or sent to shelters because they have shitty owners. It's a cycle that'll probably never end because humans are selfish and think of dogs more as living property than as companions.

In an ideal world, we wouldn't have shelters and wouldn't have to adopt dogs. It's cool that there are all sorts of cute dog breeds, but I don't have any respect for people who breed dogs because they're ultimately contributing to the problem. Would much rather live in a world where dogs don't have to suffer abuse and neglect than one where I get the privilege of adopting one and giving it a home.

This reminds me vaguely of some play I saw maybe a eight years ago where all the Disney villains were the good guys, and all came up with some clever way to justify. Belle clearly had stockholm sydrome after being held captive by an abusive partner, Aladdin was just a selfish vagabond who had designs to force himself on a princess and yadda yadda

but then they got to Cruella who just wanted to make a coat out of puppies, and everyone hated her, because of course, how do you justify it

Eh I like pets, just don't like how some use them as emotional crutches and feel the need to take them everywhere they go

And the main ones who claimed they love them are the ones probably abusing them the worst behind close doors

I'm more of a cat person. If a Cat ran up to me meowing I'd want to pet them. A dog running up to me barking intimidates me. Dogs make a lot more noise too.

Eh. It's fine to feed them and let them sleep indoors when it comes to cats but I do agree they are better outdoors. Other animals absolutely need to be indoors though. A domesticated hamster for example wouldn't survive outside.

I dont hate dogs but I absolutely dont see the appeal in having one as a pet. Maybe if I was lonely? Felt like I needed constant companionship and uNcOnDiTiOnAL LoVe?

I honestly just have the time, money, and patience for it kudos to those who do

Humans are by definition animals. Might as well just get rid of houses with this logic.
