Here's a question that I'm unlikely to get the answer to before launch, but is there software support for non-PS5 controllers? The PS5 controller is less than ideal for the genre, and I have a PS4 hori fightpad that would specifically be good for Street Fighter if it works.

I ended up getting the PS5 version of the Hori Fighting Commander

Nope! I play fighting games relatively casually though, maybe I just dont notice any issues due to that.

Waiting for Dan, Abel, or Kolin for DLC as well though.

I want to try out Manon first. I have a feeling grapplers might be nasty in this game but we'll see.

I played a random Gief in casual and we just ended up playing like 15 games in a row. He kept rematching even though it was 14-1. gave me a good chance to get familiar with the game and figure cammy stuff out. this game just feels good.

she's more fun than ever. gotta go to bed now but definitely spending time with deejay and manon tomorrow.

Boy I'm having a lot of trouble using an Xbox controller for this one. Might try my PS5 controller tomorrow if that'll hook up to PC easily but I doubt that'll be much better.

Maybe time for me to buy a fightpad.

played some lily. not a big fan of the wind and yeah literally just t hawk but with a (somehow) worse design. ill play her more later and try out manon tomorrow

Refunded on steam, was not having fun with my current controllers. IDK how I managed to ever play SF5 with this same Xbox controller.

I can't do proper reverse DPs with this PS5 controller and it's maddening.

my execution seems to have gone to shit :/ . been too long since i got the stick out i guess. gonna have to work. on that. or maybe i switch to modern...!

anyway tried out manon and i think ill stick with her for the time being. glad they have individual character ranks again so switching isnt an issue

Man I love the PS5 d-pad for fighters, surprised to see multiple people having issues with it. PS4 might still be a smidge better depending on your preferences, though.

Also this game is kind of ridiculous in just how many "wow this genre should have done this 10+ years ago" features it's cramming in completely unapologetically. Like they straight up dropped the gauntlet and dared every other developer to try and catch up.

It's not really the PS5. I think just every other series is way more lenient with DP and prioritizes it over QCF. I'm getting the hang of it.

I actually think Im gonna give modern controls a try. The breaking point might be that navigating around in world tour is super awkward on a stick. My execution is also pretty rusty, so Modern might be perfect

So I think my favorite part of the LORE of Street Fighter now is that fighting is just mainstream in the universe. It's the actual coolest shit, everybody is hyped for their favorite fighter, and people are just learning to fight just for kicks.

The best fighters ARE the celebrities in this universe, whereas before it always felt like they were this niche thing. But now they have billboards and marketing deals and they're huge personalities now instead of just these fighters in some battle against Shadaloo in the background, or competing in this niche fighting tournament. Like they have Ha-DOUGH-Ken Pizza. These fighters all just became superstars.

Easily the best move they could do that makes the entire world feel so distinct and cool, and also really modernized. A+ work from the folks who went in this direction with the series. Because if I had to do another shitty save the world story like in the last game's story mode I'd hate it.

Still waffling between Modern and Classic controls.... I think in the long run the damage reduction of Modern might become more of a hindrance

An entire single player mode that's actually like a full-ass video game that goes straight up Karate Kid wax-on-wax-off in teaching you fighting game concepts
In-game character guides for every character giving you a breakdown of everything you need to know to get started with them (Like Strive's character intro videos but... actually in the game)
Literally way more training mode tools than I could possibly list here that should have been industry standard for generations - in-game frame data, visible cancel windows, game speed settings, action timing bar for figuring out links, color-coded recovery displays etc etc etc

Add in the modern control scheme, immediate and full crossplay with rollback, plus other niceties, and this game feels like a multi-generational leap for the genre, not only in welcoming new players to the game and genre but also making it a better experience for players of all skill levels to go deeper with the game without exclusively relying on outside material and studying.

tried out world tour. not liking it too much so far but it might not be total shit like i originally thought

and to unlock more skin colors for your avatar you have to level fucking blanka fucking fuck

more world tour played. was kinda getting into it then it turned into an aris chat with all these fucking red names augh

and i think you only need to unlock blanka and also dhalsim for the avatar colors so thats good.

just waiting for tournaments to be available in the Battle Hub
