I didn't even know "Lost Sphear" was a thing until I made this poll.

I really like most of these titles. Infinite Undiscovery sounds particularly great.

I reflexively almost voted for Infinite Undiscovery upon seeing it, but stopped myself and actually read the other options

Various Daylife has to be it, although Lost Sphear gets a shout out for dumbest single word in a title

Ventured in expecting to vote "The Worlds Ends With You" but damn we got some whoppers here, I literally laughed out loud at "Integrity and Faithlessness" so have to vote for that.

Triangle Strategy has defeated the stupid name allegations

quickly voted Infinite Undiscovery as it was the stupidest title known to man and the game was only so-so.

I've never heard of VARIOUS DAYLIFE but I have to give it points because I was like, sounds like a life sim type thing, and it is partially that so you know what? That's a good name that conveys a vibe about the game.

You know what title does not do that? At least not without an in-depth explanation of the specific battle system it made up? Bravely Default.

edit: Also "The World Ends With You" is a solid contender not because it's stupid or anything but because it doesn't really make sense with the themes of the game compared to the JP title which is more directly "It's A Wonderful World" or something like that

Shout out specifically to Bravely Default: For the Sequel, Bravely Default II, and Bravely Second all existing as separate titles.

But I voted Various Daylife.

I wanted to vote Infinite Undiscovery, and then thought Various Daylife, but Integrity and Faithlessness being attached as a subtitle to a game series that actually has a very good name makes it the most offensive. Star Ocean may mostly be shit but it's a GREAT title.

The scene in First Departure where the characters are in the ship looking out at the "Star Ocean" was probably the best part of that game. Too bad the rest of the game was mediocre, because that was a fantastic way to introduce the setting and themes.

Disagree on that because the whole idea of TWEWY is that everybody has their own inner world (ie their own set of convictions, beliefs, life experiences) and you can't ever fully know others -- but by reaching out beyond yourself to try to contact others, your mingled worlds will clash, change, and be enriched. It means the world you can conceive of only ends where you say it does, and if you keep pushing to expand it, it will continue to grow. It's not a coincidence that NEO TWEWY has a song that includes the line "I'm taking back control, the world ends with me" and no JP lyric of any kind. It's a valid title.

On the topic of, well, the topic itself, it HAS to be Various Daylife. It's probably very fitting but man it sounds silly anyways. No contest IMO.

Lost Sphear is easily the worst. It doesn't make any sense and also doesnt evoke any wonder. It just makes me think of the pokemon Spheal

Infinite Undiscovery at least evokes some kind of interest in people, I think. It sounds like a game with boundless potential.

Various Daylife sounds like even the people naming it didnt find it appealing.

Yes, the problem with Various Daylife is that, even if it is accurate, it's just so mundane and boring that it actively makes you less interested in even learning what the game is.

Came into the topic, seeking IU in the topic. Found it, voted. Then I read the other options.

I still generally stand by the choice because I've played Infinite Undiscovery. In fact, my copy is downstairs with my old, defunct 360. That game is one of the worst competently-produced games I've come across. Like, functionally, mechanically, it's fine. But in terms of game design choices and the lack of ability to do certain things that the game keeps teasing I should be able to do...

Anyway, I've never heard of Various Daylife before. Bravely Default has always been stupid. Theatrhythm is one of the worst portmanteaus I've ever seen. And Octopath is kinda dumb, but not anywhere near as bad as Triangle Strategy.

Yeah "Integrity and Faithlessness" really got me. It's stupid in a way the others aren't.

I think the poor logos make most of these titles seem less inspired. TriStrat should be here.

The worst part is that Star Ocean: Integrity and Star Ocean: Faithlessness could both be cool names on their own. The latter would be better as Star Ocean: Faith, though.

Murdered: Soul Suspect sounds like one of those awful short stories that an anime nerd in middle school would write for an English project, and then get a B+, with the teacher writing little comments in the margins while pretending to be interested, but is really rolling her eyes as she's reading it.

i just looked up the game again because of this topic and just learned that there were two possible endings?!?

i feel like i got the true ending because i beat all the chapters and remember fighting ouroboros but i also don't really remember the multiverse part of it

Bravely Default does sound weird but it's intriguing. I remember when I first heard of it, I went "what the heck does that mean".

Infinite Undiscovery is unwieldy and ungrammatical but it evokes a sense of wonder.

Various Daylife is bad but mundane.

Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy stand out the most to me in a bad way.

But really, Kingdom Hearts has multiple games that beat everything in the poll.

For the games I've played...I give Bravely Default and Octopath a pass because of the wordplay involved in those titles, but if I hadn't played they would've sounded dumber. I never really minded Theatrhythm as a title. Triangle Strategy fits the theme but is still kinda not great.

My vote was for Lost Sphear, as I don't even know what that's supposed to mean.

I think they were emboldened by Octopath Traveler being a working title that caught on. And apparently TS sold well anyway, so...*shrug*

"Bravely Default" is what Republicans plan on doing anytime the debt ceiling approaches.

"Bravely Second" is what your best friend expects you to do when they say something controversial.

Definitely Various Daylife out of the poll options and I'd still take it over Triangle Strategy.

Not willing to say it's definitely the champ though just because Square has so many of these we might all be missing one lol.

In the initial trailer they showed that some of the playable cast members had names already and those names are directly tied into the Octopath part of the title. So I'm not sure they had any actual intent to change the title. At the very least, not the Octopath part.

right, it's a phrase that means literally the exact opposite of the theme until you elaborate the full context with a paragraph of JRPG philosophy. whereas the alternate title sums it up clearly. Personal preference but it just feels like a huge stretch to work a cool-sounding title into the game

I feel like The World Ends With You fits the game's themes way better than It's a Wonderful World. It's possible you could find a happy medium that's better than both but of the two options I'll take the US version every time.
