Outside of america that's true assuming that foreign site isn't hosted in the states or doesn't have international reach like twitter which is how that site keeps getying into trouble with other countries.

The only reason the internet isn't censored now is because an Oregon senator blocked it the first time it was tried.

That's Ron Wyden. Don't know what he plans to do about this since the NDAA is a "must-pass" bill that few politicians vote against so even if he opposes it the other creatures can still pass it.

Oregon seems to be a saint when it comes to this. One of the few states along with Alaska, Maine, New Mexico, Vermont, Colorado, Hawaii, and West Virginia that has removed the archaic and religion-based concept of obscenity.

This is why the congress and senate need to be controlled by opposite parties at all times.
Gridlock was intentionally engineered into the constitution.

I just saw this on the EFF and posted about it. In the current version of the article, it doesn't mention that it is the NDAA that they are trying to stick them into. Where did you hear about that, and what is the timeline for it passing?

Seems like every year old fucks try to kill the internet.

The internet is too effective and useful for the government to leave it as unregulated as it is. It lets people get out the vote, publish and research the wrongdoing of politicians, and communicate with the victims of foreign war profiteering. It has always been in Congress' interest to destroy it and its only a matter of time.

We need strict as fuck laws on what can be put together in one vote and violations should result in extreme punishment.

Politicians with no understanding of technology try to push laws through that they can't enforce. Sure will waste a bunch of taxpayer dollars on it though!

If they really are trying to shove the bills into the NDAA then our only hope is that they get cut out, because all defense spending bills inevitably pass, just like other government spending bills. It's why everyone likes saving shitty bills. Nobody can, in it's final form, vote against such a bill.

And as climate change and distrust continue to erode everything lets censor the internet, taking away fundamental rights. Authoritarian rule is coming. Hope you folks are ready. Any dissent will be met with at best jail, at worst death.

The rich will make sure the internet is controlled by them and won't stop until it happens. This isn't just old people being ignorant about the internet. They totally know what they're doing.

I have the feeling that they'll use AI to enforce monetary fines as well.

Similarly to how police agencies are incentivized to do so now.
