Because before I pointed out that the article/post was made in bad faith because the verbiage of the law does not mention "child rape", people were still trying to equate that to Florida executing LGBTQ+ people. Which is legally impossible and a backwards conservative stereotype taken from the early 20th century.

When I see "child rape", I don't see LGBTQ+. That's something someone should probably deal with personally if they are letting their mind run that bigoted.

People aren't referring to their own views. They're talking about Florida's. If this law was passed in a blue state then people wouldn't be voicing these concerns. Of course, it's highly unlikely a law like this would ever happen in a blue state anyway.

Except because we live in the real world, we have context.

Republicans have been making a concerted effort to label all LGBTQ people as groomers and pedophiles. We also know that Republicans don't actually give a fuck about protecting children, considering all of the school shootings they refuse to do anything about and the fact that they literally want to force kids to carry the child of their rapist.

No policy proposed by the current GOP is ever done in good faith or with good intentions. And I'm also willing to bet that the actual pedophiles in the GOP like Matt Gaetz (who's from Florida) won't ever be held to the same standards under this law.

I'm the one missing it? It took until I posted the true wording of the bill before anyone realized that the article/post was made in bad faith. "Child rape" is not in the verbiage of the bill.

Why are people struggling with this? If you look at the recent history of Florida, this should come at no surprise as to what their intent is. Deflecting away from that and telling me I'm wrong about them wanting to call "sexual abuse" a crime if you're trans is...well...well it certainly seems to be giving conservatives some breathing room with their narrative I'll tell you that.

That's why we said read between the lines. No one was literally saying that rape is the same as being transgender. But we knew, without actually having to look further into it, that there was going to be more hidden in this new law. Just there has been with other laws Desantis has passed.

Then vote against them. As it stands, prosecuting someone for child rape requires raping a child. That has nothing to do with someone's gender identity and legally won't unless we let republicans win the next 5 or so elections as they continue to go further right, and I'm being very generous with that one. Unrelated to the problems with this law, how does this incentivize murder? It's not as if people who are guilty of other capital crimes are like "oh well, I'm getting the death penalty so I might as well get my value".
