I'm gonna go ahead and assume that people cheering on the insurrection on January 6th, 2021 was really what started us down this path. That was when that MAGA board, or whatever it was called, got shut down. I'm assuming the MAGA folks who didn't get banned mostly migrated to the politics board and then CE. And then they got the politics board shut down so they either left or went to CE.

And now CE is made private.

Nor did the maga folks get any board shutdown. That's just Fandom wanting to be the white bread of neutrality when it comes to anything remotely political.

Of course had full bans been given out to more of the people celebrating terrorism, it would have sent a much stronger message.

I am checking out ThreadZone but shit is hard to navigate, it feels like reddit except you have to subscribe to zones to see the content first (or... something)? Also a lot of users from that one LUE spin-off that got shut down a year or two ago.

I'm too old for discord, it's fine for small group discussions but I can't keep up with everything when there's like twenty people posting shit and then I'm out of the loop because I couldn't log in for two days

It was based on the old gamefaqs forum. If you use it for a bit you'll gradually feel it all coming back.

I know the feeling discord is more like a chat room than something you can go back and look at.

I dont know how useful Threadzone will be short term for CE but long term it is nice to have another place to go if something happens to CE

There's like 70 some odd people already on Thread zone including several people that already can't post on CE like Swordmaster13X and AceMos

I never used the Gamefaqs forums back then. Apparently my original account might still be around but pretty sure it's banned since CNET used to ban your accounts across every site if you got banned on one.

I feel that. I liked the old LUE spinoff because it was a direct GFAQs clone. All these "websights" and "zones" defeat the point of still using GFAQs, which was the traditional simplicity. >_>

Thread zone is literally a fork of the old LUE spinoff if I understand it correctly.

I haven't posted in years and just lurk but I finally saw the news. It's a shame that it has come to this. I spent the last few hours looking at old posts and reading topics remembering the good times and users from back in the day. GameFAQs was one of a kind but has obviously become a relic of the early 00s internet era that can't compete with the corporate ad-based internet that companies like Fandom serve up. I've spent over 17 years here which seems wild looking back at it. I suppose I wanted to post one last time as a sort of personal closure. All the best to everyone in the future.
