why won't you buy digital though, the reason you will not?

Would rather own physical copies and sometimes digital stuff isnt ever on good sales anyways. If it has a physical edition and its not like exclusively through 1 online store or something Ill always grab physical over digital. I guess I also just dont trust the digital stores since I get paranoid and worry I might lose access to my game if said store ever closes down or whatever

I've only bought 2 or 3 physical games in the last decade, all of them were for collector's editions of games I also owned digitally.

Mostly digital, unless I can get a physical copy for much cheaper. It's just more convient and takes up less space. Plus most games these days have a day one patch anyway.

I haven't bought something that wasn't food adjacent in a brick and mortar store in....God who knows. Gotta be getting close to a decade.

Why the fuck would I shop?

Actually, wait, that's a lie I've been to hobby shops with friends and occasionally pick stuff up there. Never on my own initiative anymore, though.

probably like 80% if you include all these Steam games I will probably never touch, closer to 50/50 if we're talking stuff I actually play. I usually buy whichever is cheaper, or physical so I can resell it when I'm done if I don't plan on playing it again (or if it's a newer game, to rebuy it when it gets cheaper if I ever want to play it again). I also buy retro games which are a good chunk of my physical collection

I spend far more money on physical releases, and almost always prefer to get a physical release when available. I still buy digital for Steam/GOG for a ton of indie games (or games that I'd rather play on PC because mouse feels more intuitive than controller), but the amount I spend is comparatively very low.

I'm generally a very patient and slow gamer, so I never really buy games on release day. For preorders, I don't really mind the delay. I also like placing an order for pick-up in a store that is decently far out and biking there. Kinda feels like getting rewarded for the workout.

Just on principle, the whole even without having to manufacture/ship a disc or game case were still going to charge the same price attitude that companies have is very lame. And you cant sell it back. A digital game is one of the few things you can purchase that loses 100% of its value right after you click purchase. If I do purchase online it is never a game at full price and I will wait years if I must for a price drop before buying it.

I am a pro at Gamestop and will continue to buy and trade back games for honestly very good discounts as long as the company continues to stay afloat.

That said I know my battle is futile. Online only games and download only games will give Gamestop the Blockbuster treatment soon enough.

But for now, around 20% of my games are digital.

It's been 100% for a long time now. Last physical game I bought was Yakuza 6 in 2018, and that was a special exception after I'd already been digital-only for multiple years.
